The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi everyone. I'm terribly behind but here are some photos for you to enjoy. My babies are keeping me busy. I've brought 2 more in to hand rear and there are a couple of small babies in one nest that I'll bring inside in the next couple of days.

The oldest 2 are just gorgeous.

Jingle isn't scared of anything and loves a scritch.

Carol is turning into quite the bossy little madam but she's still cute and snuggly.

These are the two next oldest chicks who will be joining the older 2 in a big cage soon. They are both going to be stunning birds. The Lutino is on the right and with her pearl pattern she's got a lot of dark yellow on her. Once her feathers all open up properly she'll look a bit less scruffy and more photogenic.

And our little Trouble duckling did turn out to be a boy. So far he's sweet and respectful of us, whereas at the age he is (I think around 10-11 weeks old) the other drakes were attacking us. He moped when we put his mother back with the chicken flock (she was ready and kept crowing to her old flock). He's adopted the dog instead though and has kicked her out of her kennel. 🤣 Poor, soft dog.

It's great having a duck around the house though. Between him and the spiders that live on the outside of the house we've had very few flies inside. I'm sure there are a lot less than last year and it's quite amazing watching him hunt them.

We are in for a few chilly days. Down south there's going to be snow on the hills and terrible winds. There are a couple of storms heading in from the southern ocean that are not summery ones! I just wish they were bringing some decent rain with them, but it's just chills and gales.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy. How's your arm doing Sue? Hopefully it's starting to heal. :hugs
They look great!

Good mooooorning wonderful people :)

I bake bacon in the oven :p but not necessarily a baker. I would like to learn but I get overwhelmed with steps 😑
I have been wanting to learn how to make bread. After you mentioned baking bread, I found a beer bread recipe I want to try. I've made banana bread a few times but thats about it.

I don't even like touching raw meat  so, I usually stick with pre-cooked meats unless it's ground beef for...
TACOS 🎉 :D we usually do Taco Tuesday but not this week.

I was given frozen meat (chuck roast & arm roast) a couple months ago that I was going to do something with this weekend but DH paid for curbside pickup at Olive Garden. So, that will be my plan for tomorrow but one instruction calls for a roasting pan and I'm not sure I have one of those, whatever it is.
Speaking of meat... how do you know if it's good or bad? DH says it will be brown and smelly but then I've seen people cooking with browned meat in the past so I don't know where the fine line is since I don't usually handle meat. ahaha I'm learning ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wow! Thank goodness it came back as negative. I hear the common cold is stronger this season.
Ornery toddlers, oh dear maybe it's in the water. Hope it's not too bad today!

That's good news! Will you need to do any physical therapy?
Wear throw away gloves when handling raw meat. I do when I’m making meatloaf or rolling meatballs.
The kids are still ornery today:th

Good morning, all!

Jae your birds are beautiful! Such pretty colors.

Glad your appointment went well, Grammy!

Pardon me for jumping in like I was here yesterday. Brought a calf picture to share :)

Mom is Fiona, grandma is Chewy the Highlander. New baby is 3/4 highland and 1/4 Angus. 100% cute and fuzzy fluff ball. :D Really need to get a better picture of her. She's only hours old in this one.
