Totally understandable to want to get away from home and explore...there are so many different places to see and try on for size.

I got the backyard veggies and flowers done this morning and now I'm done with the flowers in front. Whew, already heating up!

I just got my girls down for a nap. I can’t wait for their mother to get here today. She texted me earlier and was having a bad day and was threatening to quit on the spot. She’s done next week. I encouraged her to quit and then she could come get her girls. I have 2 more days left

I've never had A/C and I lived in So. Cal my first 23 years. Of course the 104 heat index here last week might get me to change my mind for a few days of the summer! Of course I moved from So. Cal in part to get away from the heat. The other part was to get away from the crush of humanity and asphalt. It is worse there now than it was in '79.

Me too. It would help if the "vaccine resistant" people would get vaccinated. The fewer people around for the virus to live in, the harder it is to mutate.

You must be related to DW. A few years ago a bank she owned stock in (given to her when she was a kid) was sold so she had to mail in all the stock certificates. There had been a number of splits over the years. She had to pay to get a new certificate for the last split. I found it, a few months later, in a pile on the kitchen island when I clean you the house. It had been there for at least a couple of years. Great filing system, the rest of them were in the safe deposit box.

I threw out nearly 30 years of utility bills that DW was storing when I cleaned out the old house.

I do not know if we will use it for heating though.

What does the electricity for the heat pump cost per BTU vs the price of gas per BTU? And will using the heat pump push you into a higher tier?

My Sister that lives in Redding CA said that it is like Armageddon there. They are getting smoke from three fires as well as triple digit heat!

Fireplaces are really inefficient. Put in a wood burning stove

Lucky, I had a sore arm for days after both, first was worse though.
I assume the "move your arm a lot right after getting the shot" might work for Shingrix like it is supposed to for the Covid vaccine. Didn't know about that when I got my Pfizer shots but they weren't nearly as painful as the first Shingrix.

Bring whatever you’re going to hook it up too so your sure it’s compatible.

My grandfather moved from Chicago to So. Cal for the drier air, for his health. Of course that was about 115 years ago and he was a kid. Things in So. Cal were a lot different then. Not the weather so much of course.

It's a good price. It's a 1994 so it's a little more on the expensive side for how old it is. For a 2008 one my family got awhile back they paid 15k for that

You might want to do a little research. Averages can be deceiving and while the temps AT THE BEACH and not far inland from it are cooler and more moderated, get a few miles in and it is an entirely different story. It is also hotter because all the asphalt absorbs heat. I moved in July 1979, it was 115°F 3 days that week.

It is true that it very rarely rains, it is and has always been a near desert. Most of the water comes from up north (water rights bought a long time ago) and is dependant on snowfall in the Sierras which has been poor the last few years. It is also true that is it also almost always smoggy to the point you can barely see the mountains 20 miles distant. It IS better than it was in the early 60's when we often couldn't go out for recess because of the air quality. Thank you "Clean Air Act". It was still pretty bad when I moved into the dorm in '74, 20 minute break for burning lungs after every trip up to the 3rd floor.

The population is 4 Million (8,500/sq mi), the county population is 10 million. Look at the satellite view and you will see it is cheek by jowl buildings and asphalt. The only way to tell that you have driven into another city is the "welcome" sign. I doubt you've ever seen the kind of traffic that exists in all of So. Cal.

And then there is the cost of living, my niece and nephew still live with my sister. Pretty hard to afford an apartment. Google says the average in Los Angeles is over $2400/month. You might want to check out housing and what level of income you'll have before moving

Just my opinion of course, 24 million people in So Cal must not agree.
