The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Same here DMC, we're supposed to get around 5" and more than plenty of cold starting tonight. At least it's not as bad up here in Casper as it is down at DH's company house...they're expecting 6-12" of the white stuff.
Keep that to yourself!

5” is still plenty:tongue I think we are in the 8-11 snow total.
You too!!!!!!!!

Yes, my friend @superchemicalgirl

Today is a Holiday!
If you get paid to work for a living. For the rest of us it is just another Monday
....
with the wife at home ;)

She has been hit hard by the Pandemic sadly.
She is a pharmacist, Covid created a lot of issues at the facility where she works. She's pretty stressed out.

We have to go help DD1 move out of her apt in Canada at the end of April and go back for graduation mid May. How STUPID is that!!!!! Most schools have graduation right after finals. Hoping to see SCG on our way through Maine one of those trips. Won't likely be passing that way again any time soon.

Well, the transition to the new computer has started. I'm in the "wait 2-3 hours for everything to sync up" phase. Then we can start installing software, followed by putting all my folders where they go. Ugh! I hate change!
I hope you have good weather today so you can go outside and do something useful. I always hated the forced computer replacement.

yeah, schools take every day off they can get :p
Isn't this the Holiday where people go shopping?

Since it is a Federal Holiday, Most things are closed. As Staff at UCD, we get the normal 5 or so days off a year.

Casper has actually issued a”frozen pipes alert”. @N F C , did you see that?

Thanks to you, I looked into it. You're right, thanks for letting me know!

CASPER, Wyo. — With an Arctic front encroaching on the city Monday and single-digit highs expected through Wednesday, City of Casper officials are reminding citizens to take steps to prevent frozen and burst pipes.

Casper’s Water Distribution Manager Clint Conner offered the measures property owners can take to prevent frozen plumbing:

• Leave a trickle of water running from faucets
• Open cabinet doors
• Turn up the heat

Conner reported City water crews will be available to turn off water if a break with spraying water occurs.

You’re welcome. We’re not under any official alert, but we’ve always taken these steps every winter so it’s habit for us. We had heat tapes on the old place but twice we had frozen pipes despite them, once because a tape failed and once because an old trailer house with flimsy skirting “protecting” the pipes underneath was no match for 2 days in a row of temperatures of 39 below zero.

Good morning all. DMC . . Our snow has arrived! Yes! It actually looks a bit like a blizzard out there. My Cooper is watching. View attachment 3000524
Good afternoo , Cynthia. I'm going to need to see more of that Cooper dog!!!😍 He is so cute!
If you can get batteries out, those get pulled first. Your keyboard probably does not have removable batteries though. An air duster can push liquid out of the keyboard area. Then turn it upside down to dry.

Heat can be as bad as water so don't get it too hot.

Coffee is better than soda but there might still be enough acid to cause problems later. Often keyboards have a plastic cover between the keys and electronics so can take some liquid and be fine.
Gotta give you kudos for that answer Blooie!

My Cooper, and my Gracie. ♥️

Cooper is a Schnauzer, Gracie is a Shi Tzu. I keep Gracie shaved short. Cooper is my watch dog. They both go ballistic when the doorbell rings. I love having them here with me now that I'm alone up here. ♥️ Kids are often gone, they both work.
