The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

My youngest is sickie :( high fever for 3 days. He hasn't been sick in so long he didn't even know what he was feeling; headache, body aches, burning eyes, dizziness, a little upset stomach; when we tried doing an at-home test yesterday but he cried and screamed, it was a nightmare.
Debating on taking him to get tested instead but, the fact that he's sooo uncomfortable makes me question if it's worth it.
Thankfully the rest of us are doing well 🙏

Hi Mad, sorry your kiddo is under the weather. Hope he is better soon. :hugs

Here it just grows wild along the irrigation canals an in ditches. It’s a real sign of spring to see families with brown paper bags walking the ditches picking fresh wild asparagus. Until you’ve tasted it, you wouldn’t believe the difference!

Oh oh! I’m so sorry he’s so sick. Keep us updated, please!

Mark, any word on your cat yet?

Got a call from Little DIane last night. She’s coming out the end of May! I’m just giddy! I can’t wait to see her!

Morning Blooie, how nice that will be to have Little Diane for a visit! So she's doing well I take it?

Forgot something. We have torn down most of the run. There’s just one cattle panel left, but since we‘d decided to plant our veggie garden in the space where the old run was, we left that one to grow climbing plants. We were gonna put pole beans on one side and cukes on the other.

Well, on the way to Billings yesterday, Ken said he was concerned about the increasing shortages of staples. I bake all of our breads, and three of my recipes call for eggs. Eggs are getting hard to find, as are flours. I can order my flour, but I can’t order eggs. So now he wants to close the open end of that one cattle panel and get 4 chicks. Again. I thought I was done with chickens, but I confess I do kinda miss having them and the fresh eggs. I don’t need a lot of chickens….there’s just the two of us and I don’t want to be inundated with eggs. But we are using more than we used to use. So I guess I need to bust out Mama Heating Pad again.

Yay, chicks again! Four should be just enough for the 2 of you. Are you ordering from MPC again or picking them up from a farm store? What breeds will you be looking for? And pictures when you get them of course!

She sure seems to be doing well. They’ll follow her closely, of course, but right now I can almost feel the relief in her voice when I talk to her. She is as anxious to come home as we are to have her, even if it’s only for a week.

Maybe chicks again. I’m still weighing pros and cons here. We’d just go to a farm store, I think. Four chicks might not handle shipping well.
