Good morning Bruce, have a great day
That's good to hear. I think the jest of the story was that disreputable contractors are taking advantage of the owners, and the large insurance companies are tired of footing the bill when poorly roofed homes have damage.Nope, they don't mind a bit
Fortunately, we don't have to worry about homeowners insurance for a while. The company that owns the golf course owns the house we'll be living in for now. DH sent me a bunch of pictures of it yesterday, looks like we'll be comfy.
Good morning, Mark. I'm not allergic to poison ivy or poison oak, but I sure wouldn't roll around in it. Or eat it. I'll bet your mama had her hands full.I had my hands all over Susie's, she had a few of those out here. They are related to Larkspur. Were you planning on eating them? When I was a lad I ate poison ivy, I would go down and lay in the strawberry patch and gorge myself on the strawberries that were smothered with poison ivy. I still pull it off the trees bare handed but if Susie got in the flower beds she would get it bad and have to go get a shot.
Good morning, DMC.Good morning Debby! It certainly makes things easier. I just called the neighbors to see if they had power. When they run a generator they have to shut their main power switch off or something. I heard their generator this morning.
Wow!
That’s awesome!

Good morning, Bruce.I don't suppose there was some building ordinance passed 15 years ago that required roofs to be designed better for hurricane force winds?
I know, that would be a very Pollyanna thought.
Free rent? Or at least cheap? You can save up LOTS of money for when he retires and you want to buy something.
I'm glad you can look out and see some beauty along with the destruction. I guess one can only move on and try to find the bright side of life.

I understand their point of view, but I think each roof should be evaluated. It just makes it difficult for homeowners who have a perfectly good roof, even if it is 10 years old. It’s all about risk Janie. If there’s a tree too close to the roof, or damage to the roof from previous storms or that tree limb rubbing on the roof and damaging it, it can create a lot of other issues inside the house and cost more for repairs. A lot of people used to use their insurance companies to replace their roofs and such when it’s not their job. Roofs don’t last forever and it’s your responsibility as the homeowner to maintain your dwelling and the surroundings to keep it in good shape. I worked for an insurance company for almost 20 years, hated it.
