I understand their point of view, but I think each roof should be evaluated. It just makes it difficult for homeowners who have a perfectly good roof, even if it is 10 years old.
When we lived in a neighborhood, our neighbors' tree fell on ours, during a storm. My husband had asked them several times to get it trimmed.
Our insurance company (& we) ended up footing the bill, for a roof because their insurance called it "an act of God".
I'm glad our neighbors here are at least a few acres away. Lol.

Good morning Bruce As long as DH works for the golf course, the rent on the house is free to us, we just have to pay utilities. And the good news, DH is really enjoying his new job!

That's good to hear. I think the jest of the story was that disreputable contractors are taking advantage of the owners, and the large insurance companies are tired of footing the bill when poorly roofed homes have damage.

Here is a picture of what’s left of a camper. A tornado touched down 3 miles from this place. We were about 9 miles from it. It was a nice camper that was for sale. Now I suppose they can collect insurance. The guy that owns this house is a brother to the guy that is supposed to be doing our repairs. He built the house in the picture. He does beautiful work.
