the "not-so-bad" Blue Wheaten Ameraucana Hatch of 2010

Yes, but there is a high mortality rate. Also, Mahonri might be a little bit of a control freak

I kinda wish Mahonri was my nursemaid. He could pace around everytime I got a cold. Bring me fresh pillow cases, tea...

OK, so I finally got a little sleep.

For heavens sake, who ever is in charge of this global warming thing, I WANT MORE!

It's the last week of April and it's colder outside than in!
GOTTA LOVE IT!

19 out

5 pipped.

I had one that pipped early on and I noticed it hadn't moved so I eggtopsied it... looks like it hit a blood vessel or something and died.

Only 3 from the brinsea have hatched and there is only one more pip in there.

This makes me real sad as every egg in the brinsea were Waynes. Now I'm wondering all kinds of things. Can I cry over non-pipped eggs? Not the same as spilt milk I know but....

I'm praying I even get 24 at this point.

Kinda dissapointing, but on a bright side? my BWA X Black Star and one of my BWA X BBL polish hatched.

Off to Western Ranchman for some DE, Chick mash and some grower.

Thanks for all of your support, prayers and hatching vibes. I'm praying I just have a bunch of late pippers

Aren't you supposed to wait until day 25?

WHy not pip them and see if they are still kicking in there. Humdity could make it hard for a perfectly healthy chick to get out, right?

See, I don't know if I have too much or not enough.

The three in the brinsea seemed like perhaps they had too much, but I had to pull the bottom of the shell off of the last one.

Only one other pip in the brinsea and it hasn't moved.

5 pips left in the 1588 and they haven't moved.

I was really hoping for at LEAST 30 and now it looks like I may not get 20!

I'll leave them to day 23, then I'll eggtopsy them.

Theory is, if you have to help them, then the next generation will be weak also???
