Since I last posted Ive seen it...
My son was assigned a bus and it comes @ 7:11 every morning
The trip mileage was 101.1 when I was leaving Tball
A sermon at a church I passed was @ 11
And after my son got on the bus this morning (it ran late) I got back in the house and the oven clock said 7:11 (the power went out for 30 mins the other day and I havent reset it)
It really means nothing. It's akin to buying a new car, and then "suddenly seeing them everywhere." What really happens is that unfamiliar cars with no special meaning to you pass by relatively unnoticed and unremembered, but when you recognize one that is like your own, you pay attention.
You are selectively attending to the number eleven, and so when you find it in your environment, you remember it. What you're not remembering is the occurrence of other numbers. If you went to the trouble of writing down every number you encounter in the course of a day, for a week, you'll likely find other numbers that occur more frequently. But because right now you're paying attention to the number eleven, you're not noticing it.
This "phenomenon" is well-known in cognitive psychology.
