We used to be laying hens, but then we both lost use of our right legs. Now we sit around and nap waiting for the morning sun!

How'd they loose use of their right legs?

How'd they loose use of their right legs?

Peg (black one) got stepped on by a horse about a year before I got her, and it never healed. Ruby I am not quite sure. She somehow got left in the "outside"portion of the coop overnight a couple weeks ago, and when I found her in the morning, she could not put weight on it. Thought it was a scorpion sting, but I am not sure. She is steadily getting better though, and now hobbles instead of hops.

Tee hee .. that is Blondie and while she is a sweetheart when not broody, she turns on cranky big time when she is! She chases her people across the back garden and attacks toes! She is the only one I have to pick up with gloves on and while I let her have one hatch, she is never going to be allowed to have another

She is Beautiful !
I have a Broody that did worse


She also Wrestled a Hawk when she was a baby ...and lived ...I ran out and separated them ...
She was named Yap Yap ...now she is called Warrior Princess ..after she did this to me .
Babies had just hatched ..and I came into the coop ...She had never had 3 babies before and she freaked out
She came at me again the next day when she was in a closed in area ..
Her Mama set her straight ..and whipped her tail ...( she had chicks in there too)
Im sure her mama was defending her chicks ...but it looked like she was defending me ..
It healed fine ...she has settled down ..she has one chick now ..she doesnt attack me
