I feed, water and let them be.I try to stay out of the space as much as possible.In the winter months I poly the top 3' of their pen and leave the bottom 3' open.The top is covered with a thick construction poly(10Mil) year round.For the peacock pheasants,I cover their pen completely with poly all around.
Each bird has his/her own personality,males seem to be more curious and will approach me while most the hens tend to hide behind structures.The brown eared male and temminick male will actually step on my shoe as if to say I'm here.
I just got an unrelated pair of edwards 4 weeks ago,and they are both spooky,but seem to be getting used to me and settling down.
As for breeding,I have them all set up with fresh straw and nest boxes in early Jan.At the end of Feb I switch them over to layer pellets,fruits and veggies.I will be feeding a lot of mealworms this year and peanuts.
