The OHIO NATIONAL 2010

Its Neil. The only people who cal me Mr. either think I am old or want my money.

Physical set-up for The OHIO NATIONAL starts the Saturday before the show at 8 AM. You can generally talk your way out of paying the fairgrounds parking fee. What sort of self respecting liar would use the whopper excuse of "I'm here to set up the poultry show" If you get an unreasonable person at the gate pay the fee and we will reimurse you.

Needless to say there is a lot of work to do and many, many different tasks to perform. There is a job for everyone between eight and eighty. Once you have helped you will appreciate how much work goes into a show of this size. And, funny thing is, about everyone tells you they really enjoy being there and doing it. Until they get out of the truck or car when they get home!

The two fun things are talking with other poultry folks while working and socializing at lunch. (Club members cook!)

I have set up every OHIO NATIONAL since 1975 (that is 35 years) except for the two times I was stuck overseas. Wouldn't miss it for anything.

We welcome anyone that would like to help out. And if you have any strong teenage boys that need some thing to help burn off energy - be sure abd bring them along.

It looks like a 7,000 plus bird show at this point in the entry envelope opening. A lot of cages to set up, but after all these years we have a pretty good system. After all so many of us have gotten to old to work so hard. We quit at 5PM. If there is anything to be finished up those who live nearby finish it up on Sunday. Dosen't happen often but - been there, done that.

It will take two weeks to get all the paperwork done for this size show so if you still want to mail in an entry do it. We will be able to take care of you.

Faulkners they do not have thier web site up and running yet but they will be there. they won best english over and over with dorkings last summer

My husband Dave and I are going for sure. We're going to arrive early Friday, spend the night at the Hilton, and then go to the show Saturday. This will be our second year. I'm very excited! Last year, I had a terrible cold when we were there, and I enjoyed the show, but I was really sick.

We can't wait! It's our little get-a-way!

Of course I want your money, why else would I, oh, never mind!
Turns out that I may have typed too soon. I am on call for my local EMS that weekend, and it really is too much to ask the drunken 4- wheeler riders to wear helmets just for me. I'll ask for a sub tonight when I go to our meeting.

Hey, Neil, what is the status of the BYC table? I'd love to see a table and promotion of BYC happen. Can I be of help? I plan to attend Saturday.

Also, could we make BYC t-shirts and bumper stickers, etc. available for sale if Nifty approves? I have several of the business cards already on hand.

Hello All

This will be my first year at the nationals and am really looking forward to it - my friends i am going with have been - but sadly i have not!
Was curious if anyone knew any breeders of Large Fowl Speckeld Sussex that might be there and maybe have something for sale?
Thanks!

Suggestion-

Don't call them banties at a proper poultry show. In fact if any of the serious exhibition crowd refer to you birds as banties they have just been insulted.

It is like refereing to show rabbits as "wabbbits". You get strange looks.

In any event we are glad you are coming!

Also don't use terms like Roo's, chooks or refer to your favorite chicken by Miss Fluffy Butt
You will find that most exhibitors are more than happy to help out a begginer as long as they don't degrade the hooby by using improper terms.
