The OHIO NATIONAL 2010

Neil,

How would one go about selling there birds at the OHIO NATIONAL. I went in 2008 and last year. The first year I got 8 birds. 6 Serama Bantams and a Golden Sebright Pair. And last year I got 2 Cochin Bantams, and Wheaton Rock Hen, and Mille Fleur Hen, and a Indian Blue Pied Peachick.
How would I go about selling my birds here?
Thanks,
Cole W.

If any one is interested....I have 4 straight run Blue Laced Red Wyandotte peeps that will be just shy of 2 weeks old this coming Friday. Looks like 2 Blue Laced and 2 Black Laced. I am not sure what time I will be arriving in Columbus on Friday, but I would be happy to bring them with me. I would love to keep them, but I am out of brooder space. I am asking $5.00 each for them. I also have an extra Black Laced (BLRW) cockerel that is gorgeous, just too many boys. He is approx. 30 weeks old and is good with the ladies and people. I am asking $15.00 for him. And I also have a pet quality Silver Laced Brahma cockerel that is about 26 weeks old. He is big and friendly, just doesn't have good lacing. I am asking $5.00 for him. I will only tote these guys to the show if someone is seriously interested in them. Send me a PM or you can email me for pics at [email protected] I will only be in Columbus on Friday as I have to work on Saturday.

Think I'll post in this thread too Just soo excited!

Well its official! Etched in stone! I am going to the Ohio Nationals this year!!! I'm So excited to see all the birds and pick the brains of some breeders and of course meeting fellow BYCers!! I'm driving from MN with my 3 DD's. Girls road trip!! About a 13 hr drive from Mpls so its a good thing we all get along! I was originally going to try to pick up some wyandottes but one by one all DD's were able to go so unless they agree to the ride home with chickens in their laps I guess that is out!

We'll be getting in Fri eve. Do I understand right that it is open til 10:00pm Fri evening?

Mrs Turbo I'm especially looking forward to seeing BLRW's actually being shown! I went down to the MN state fair this year and of the breeds I'm working with (Buff & Light Sussex and BLRW's) there wasn't a single one there! Duane Urch did have some beautiful wyandottes there tho!

See you all in Ohio!

Last Saturday was set-up day for The OHIO NATIONAL. Starting at 8:30 AM cages enough for the 6,900 birds entered and 600 sale cages were set-up, littered, and all nearly cupped and coop taged by 4:30 PM. Fourty-seven people sat down for lunch at noontime.
By Sunday early afternoon a handful of members finished things up and put the final touchs on the decorations.

We will start welcoming the 560 exhibitors Friday morning at 10 AM when coop-in starts.

the best part is the building has heat!!!! We have been curled up under blankets at shows before.
I thought we were showing a pair of BLRWs but we are showing 2 pullets. the roosters are not filled out enough. I am sure there will be other BLRWs in the show. It is the wyandotte nationals after all. I think Duane Urch is getting all his sold birds together. We have a pair coming... very excited. Hope he brings extra to look at.

By state regulations and ABA recomendations all birds on the premisis where a poultry show is held must be the property of a registered exhibitor. In addition to that the Ohio State Fair Board rules do not allow the sales of anything outside of a building.

So. Ah, Ah - be resourceful. I guess.

I checked it out over the weekend-
A one time only parking ticket for the fairgrounds is $5.00. Only one entry, no in and out.
An "event pass", which is $14.00, allows you to come and go as many times as you want until Monday morning.

And there is also an entry fee charged to get into the show. $5.00 per person charge only to those over 18 years of age. This charge entitles you to entry the entire weekend. This charge makes it easy for the spectators to support the show which is a break even venture (we always hope!)
