The Old Folks Home

So you were like Dr Phil.? Or Bull?

Keep in mind that TV is totally different from real life. I wasn’t like either! And I think Dr. Phil is a big arrogant jerk. (Empathy is my strength, remember?)

If we have to find a TV character, I’m most like Dr. Wong on Law and Order. Interviewing defendants and sometimes testifying that they are not competent to stand trial or, rarely, an opinion on the insanity defense.

That's got to be tough. There's a case in a nearby community that got a bit of coverage in the news recently, that has had me thinking about this. A woman was murdered by her 30-something child, who checked themselves out of a mental health facility (against doctor's orders) and drove for many hours to essentially "get her before she gets me." That person was clearly delusional, but their head was together enough for them to set up this plan of action and carry it through. I'd hate to have to sit on that jury! How does one decide whether they can be held responsible for what they did? To me, they have demonstrated that they not only are potentially very dangerous, they will fight against the measures intended to help them. I feel like such a person shouldn't be allowed out without a keeper, and even the keeper is at risk.

How we decide is too complicated to explain here, but know this: someone who is found not guilty be reason of insanity is not released. Rather, they are committed to a hospital, a secure one, and are generally kept confined longer than people who are found guilty and imprisoned.

Micro got post 100,000! I'll start the next 100,000 ;)

Now when I find a tick, I clamp it in a forcep and toast it to a cinder with a lighter. I figure if they can make my life H*** I can send them there free of charge!
:gig No "live and let live" here! Yeah, there are some exceptions to that "rule".

Don't worry, you will get it someday.:hugs
I hope not!! It isn't quite like dying, a "disease" we WILL all get eventually.

NEVER! I am dead serious here. Never grasp a tick with your fingers and try to pull it off of you. Bacterial transmission can occur instantly if you squeeze the tick and it regurges its stomach contents into your bloodstream. Sometimes they will do this no matter how careful you are.
Geez, now you are scaring me. I better get some of those tick twisters. Knocking on wood, I've actually never seen a deer tick. But I do need to go out and start cutting next year's firewood and that means going out where the deer (but no antelope) play.

but I don’t think she’s ever been treated for Lyme. She probably should be but she always brushes it off ha
Given what you said, I think it is a bet worth taking that she indeed will test positive for Lyme. Perhaps she just hasn't developed the symptoms yet, or not enough to cause too much trouble.

PS no one in immediate family is 0 -. One of my father's half brothers - had too much iron in his blood - which was treated by having him donate blood often.
You were abducted FROM aliens!!!!
I worked with a woman like that. Had to remove blood to decrease iron. Sounds weird doesn't it? I bet she and your father never took Geritol!
