The Old Folks Home

HAHAA-- that was pozees driveway--the LOOOONG flat all white snow and no trees. Mine is almost as long just add up and down as we are on the side of a hill. And surrouded by tall oaks, and black birches. SO yes, the miles do apply!! But it's only a few years old. FOr that money, I should just pay a plow to zip thru.
That driveway gave me chest pain.

In SoCal we drive from one store to the next - in the same mini strip mall. I may have to get a golf cart to get to mty chickens

IT's not too bad-- the snowblower is self driven-- I just guide it and push on the hill up to the house. Figure that is cheaper than a gym membership.

Doc mentioned to me that instead of HRT I should consider PT to strengthen my body and hands. I really spat fire at her-- with all the farm work I don't need PT to build my muscles. lol I get a medium work out every day. THe snowblowing is my heavy duty work out!! My kids of course require regular picking up and at 75# each they keep me in shape, too. Becareful OZ the day will come when you can't pick up both of your little ones at the same time-- for me it was when they hit the 50# each mark. 100# at once was a strain. Guess I have only 25# left to enjoy picking up my boys . . . or until the tween years hit !

Arielle, had to read what you said about the garbage bags and kids going down the hill on them to my DH. Good ol day memories here.

THe boys just need to miss the big pine . . . or ditch it to avoid a coliision!! I do like that my kids think outside the box. THey didn't remember where the sleds were so they improvised using the shavings bags. lol Of course they were skipping out on the chores . . . . I"m sure that rings a bell too.

Oh don't be too sad. I'm not looking forward to the digging out but it will sure look pretty and I'm sure the boys will try to sled down the driveway on large plastic bags!! Just wich the snow blower was working--- time to hire someone with a truck and plow!!

Sad that your missing out on the 'fun' or sad that they have to deal with all of that mess?

Both!

It is sad to do all that work but it also make my want to go visit my Mom's place. She got some snow last week.

Hi everyone !
Didn't intend to quote this post but something went a little haywire and I didn't have a choice. Also lost all text features and emoticons, sigh.

So for now I just want to offer a little prayer for our east coast friends for a safe night for yourselves, your families, your homes and all your creatures. May your power stay and the sun shine in the morning (insert HUGs here)

They made a change on BYC that keeps posts started as a draft. It persists even after turning off the computer.

It is nice but has been causing problems this weekend with people. Look down at the bottom left of the post screen(when you quote or reply). You will see a discard draft link. That will get rid of the saved draft.

THe snow is piling up here. 4" to the west and 5" to the northeast. Looks like 3" here so far. Praying the rain misses us.

We have about 8 inches so far, and it is really coming down fast and blowing. The ducks are waddling through it the best they can - I left everyone else locked up in their houses - the ducks are locked in their 10x10 area, and they are not happy. I didn't want BF to have to beep the horn at them though, when plowing.
