The Old Folks Home

About the same as you are only not itchy... Finally kicked the poison ivy that has been thriving this summer and impossible to stay out of.

The docs always say that 'oh, with Lyme you'll feel better after the antibiotic treatment'. I just snort at them and say 'you've obviously never had Lyme personally because no you don't'. It takes time for that to leave your body.

Are you in the danger zone with the hurricane?
Naw, in VA we may get rain and wind but we need rain. My kids and grandkids and Mom are all on the west coast of FL, so wind and rain for them.

Thank goodness for that, Cap.

We have just a generic gas generator. Works great except it's a bit of a gas hog. But then I think they all are. Folks get into this false sense of security with them until they realize in a disaster that they have one and BTW where can I buy gas?

That happened to us once. All the gas stations in the town were closed down due to a bad winter storm. That taught us a lesson about keeping ample gas on hand.

The neighbors with solar have a back up generator to use to charge their batteries in cloudy weather where the solar energy isn't enough to do to job. If we hear it DH usually asks where that motor is that he's hearing run continuously and I just tell him it's the neighbors who are saving money running solar except they are losing money siphoning gas into the generator to charge their batteries.:idunno

Well, sometimes you just need some power no matter what it costs.
Its 89° out there so I think I will stay inside until it cools off some. I have finished the quilt top and cutting 10" x10" squares for the back. May as well use the fabric I have plus the full sized Spiderman sheet .

Itchy and tired and achey, but I guess that is the new normal. Pulling weeds, and I think I got some chigger bites. Why do we need such miserable bugs?
Enough complaints, I have just the roof and the little cover for the waterer to make for the new quail cage. Also working on another bunny water system, got the 5 gallon bucket drilled, next insert the metal tap and silicone it. Dry 24 hours and set up. Also working on the wooden parts for the chicken run. 10x10, x6 high for some banties.
How are you doing Micro?
The DW came back from missouri with chigger bites!

They were terrible

Kinda random but anyone have a generac generator?

Yes.

This is my Generac.

Saved up the money for one, then when I realized how much I had, I bought a long arm sewing machine, instead. Figured I'd spend more days sewing on it than days with lost power.

I lost power 12 hours after getting it.

True story.

I still think I made the right decision.

I love that but have no room for it. Anyway, sewing helps keep my hands moving.

Hey! I resemble that!:lau

Seriously, chiggers are the one thing I have yet to encounter in Missouri, thank GOD! I had them all over my arm once back in IL when I volunteered to clean out a neighbors flower bed for her after her husband died.

Here in the Show Me! state, everything bites, claws, scratches or gives you a rash. It's just a fact of life. I think I read once that there are 15 types of poison Ivy here and a few of them don't even look like poison ivy.

You can kill the little buggers (chiggers) dead in their tracks if you dab a bit of clear fingernail polish on the bite and try not to scratch the bite then before the polish dries. I've never tried it but hey! I stayed at Holiday Inn once!

Okay, I'm punchy tired. Sorry....nah not really. I need to get up and get moving before I nod off.

@CapricornFarm, I'm sure the Amish around here would argue that point with us but even they use gas powered motors.

Just finished building a quesadilla for dinner it is in the fridge but needed a small nap to get that done so large pan size of the spring form pan is on it with water in to help compress after three hours take it of the spring form egg and flour then deep fry
