The Old Folks Home

Angel, that little chihuahua is just too cute to be legal. DH couldn't believe it when I told him how old he was. Our 17+ years old black cat, Cash will lay up against the pedestal of our wood stove. His hair gets so hot that he actually singes it on the tip ends. But he loves it. Like you said, when you are as old as they are, who's gonna judge them? I tell DH just to keep a fire extinguisher handy......just in case.

Went out tonight and spent 15 minutes looking for that stupid rooster, Cowboy. Couldn't find him anywhere he usually lurks about and he wasn't in the nesting boxes. Hmmmmmm. Made another pass, checked under everything, went back into the coop and turned on the light so I could do a beak check and to my surprise, found him sitting on a roost bar.:yesss: Now whether or not my persistent tough love 'get your worthless tail feathers out of the nesting box you useless piece of rooster crud' attitude will still be working in the morning, who knows. But he won himself a soft pat on the back for now.

I went to lock up had 4 in a panic including the cockerel chased them from the pop door shut the light off and left cussing found our little Raudy in the son's shed didn't want to walk in, I had to help down our 2 steps to the yard so carried him in been like this about 3 days now but getting worse

I know what that's like, @penny1960. So helpless to watch them decline due to age and know there is nothing you can do to help them other than be there for them.

Hope Raudy is doing better this morning.:hugs

Woke up to 41 degrees this morning. It was a race to see what came first hot coffee or hot fireplace.....or both.

We have two windows of opportunity in order to have weather perfect for doing outside projects. Once in the late spring and once in early fall when the temps fall into the 60s for highs. We are in the fall window now so it's hurry hurry hurry to get whatever done that we can before temps fall or the weather turns to carp.

@Alaskan, I salute your family's fortitude when it comes to resisting heat. We are to the age where we just want to keep warm.:old

It rained yesterday, and today we're getting more of the same. Actually, we've been needing it a bit. Dd helped me, and we got the fridge/freezer emptied except for the water bottles. Dh took the garbage can to the road for pick up, early this morning. Another chore to check off the list.

I am sorry about that Penny!

Is it a brain injury?
