The Old Folks Home

Diva, you are a hoot! Thanks for making me smile. And DO NOT climb! Get some table lamps or floor lamps and scatter them around. Sure don't want to hear that you have fallen and hurt yourself.

@perchie.girl's here! YAY! Hi Perchie! Sorry to hear you are moving. I'm saying sorry cause I know what a you know what of a job that is. Talked to a friend in IL today who lost her husband last year. She is knocking around a big three story house by herself now and occasionally thinks of moving. She's lived there for over 35 years tho and the mere thought is just overwhelming for her. I told her to rent a semi. She said semi heck she was going to rent a couple of dumpsters and go to work.

So besides being stressed from moving, how ya feelin?
Pretty decent battling depression but thats an ongoing thing for me. Moving isnt helping...

I already have most of my stuff packed in the garage... its in Plastic totes. I still need to pakc up my jewelry supplies... thats going to be several totes worth. I look at it all and turn around and go to bed... sigh.

I am not kidding...

Refridgerator is in at lowes so I have to have them deliver it here rather than try to do it at home... Just as well. This will give me a breather to get other stuff done. Like grade the driveway.

I do have a name for a guy who will move me and hes got a small box truck.. Big guy built like a freight train... When he moved my grandmothers recliner back home he carried it in on his back.... SMH.. Hes nice as can be and is a father of one of grandmas caregivers at the residence. He moves household for a living and the truck is his.

so we will see what his estimate will be.

I finished with the last of the bank accounts... I thought BofA was bad Took them three hours to get her last account settled and I had to come back the next day for the cashiers check.... Second to hospitals i hate banks as well. Wells Fargo was no better. Four and a half hours it took them.... but I had the check the same day.

Now I have to put in the bonds... and they will take two weeks to clear then I can send out the disbursment checks.... I will be soo glad to have that part overwith.

Oh and I finally applied for Social Security....

Be glad to start my own life again....

I always eat grapefruit without sugar, like my dad always did peel and hard to explain if you don't do it cut carefully down first time with a short sharp fillet knife close to the skin and flop the sucker out into my mouth then the rest same way easier no mess no spoon. For the kids I peel and sharp fillet knife the skin all around and segment out little messier but I still think better than halving them and scooping out with spoon. And yup DW and kids douse theirs with sugar. We get a big bag every year from the FFA fruit sale here, love grapefruit.

I eat Grapefruit like I do oranges.... Peel and eat... maybe a little bit of salt on it... I eat it pith and all.... love the bitter quality...

but now I am on Statins... no more grapefruit....

Why thank you!

I was just starving today. .

spouse had other stuff planned for the kitchen.... so I snuck off... was scared to make a snack

Didn't get to eat until almost 7!

Food was great though... homemade mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts cooked in lots of bacon, and a chicken breast. But I just about died waiting to be fed. :th

Ouch!

You need a secret pantry with a box of crackers or something!

I'll see your picture from 2 weeks ago and raise you TWO pictures taken today ;)

Oh! Breathtaking! Looks like something out of Vermont Life. What a beautiful farm.

I would call that the peak!

DH was driving to work this morning along a quiet back road that has a spectacular view across the Green Mountains, and into NH. There was a van, 3 cars, piles of photographic equipment, and about a dozen tripods set up all over the place.

I guess the back roads are not our secret any more.

our newest car is almost 14 years old...
All ours are just a little older than that but low miles and didn't cost much. Prob here is the crazy amount of salt they get bathed in every winter, I think NY is the worst state for rust.
I don't like the newer cars, oldest dd bought a '06 Impala good deal cheap no rust low miles guy knocked 500 off it cause he wanted to get bad gas pedal sensor changed and I told him I'd do it. Only cost $35 but was the whole pedal assembly all plastic, two bolts bolt it to firewall, one electrical connection finishes it off... No throttle cable, just wires and sensors...pedal sensor tells throttle body sensor what to do... What's so wrong with a throttle cable?? Never seen one go bad...

I spent the day fixing my nesting headache, then working on my raised vegetable beds. I go into the woods with a 5-gallon pail, find some rotted wood and leaf mold, and collect it and put it in the gardens. Composted woodlands! In the spring it should be perfect.

Along with chicken poop, leaves, and wood chips I try to make as much soil as possible, because buying is it terribly expensive and back breaking when they leave those bags out in the rain.

Also went to the dump, bought gas, and played with the chickens. I have a pile of tomatoes slowly ripening and rotting on the steep hillside (trying to make soil with whatever I have!) and the chickens visit it daily. I love having them outside, and I hope against hope I don’t regret it. They did tear into the flower garden today, little stinkers.

I sometimes stash snacks and stuff in my room :lau

Rarely though but if I bought it and don’t want anyone else eating it all :lau

But I agree. He needs a hidden snack stash. Or shoulda grabbed a snack from the kitchen anyway haha

I love VT, NH, Maine. It is so gorgeous up there. :love haven’t been to VT a ton but we go to NH and the White Mountains all the time and I love it. Love the whole area though.

Your further ahead than we are, lotsa color but lots of green yet.

Same here.

Sounds like a nice day!! Besides the headache. :hugs

And I have been trying to do similar except I’ve got a lot of separate piles. I gotta get it a little better organized and make one big pile or bin or something. And haven’t tried the whole composted woodlands thing. That is an excellent idea. We have plenty of woods to do it with too! I could find endless material haha I’ve been thinking of putting wood chips and leaves in the chicken run and doing deep litter/composting in there.
