The Old Folks Home

One of the roosters, from the junk eggs my daughter bought, went after Dd #1 a few times yesterday. Not one of my good ones, but the pen with the ones from the cheap eggs that Dd #2 bought. We will be working with him. He was sneaking up behind her too, so I'll go in with her, and cover her back from sneak attacks, until we get him under control.

That bread looks good! Hey micro..we are supposed to see our first snow in the valley too. It's been on the told of the the mountains for a while. Always fun to see that. Pretty. And, what's up with all the scary movies? I don't mind a scary mystery movie, not one for the real scary ones. What do you guys watch? Going to share a couple of photos of what happened the other day. Had some water bubbling up out beside our home, on the street. Someone called, we didn't know what was up until we saw the city truck out there, then another, then another. The thought it was just our private like, yes, it was drinking water..but, they got down there and found it was the main pipe. In the photo it looks like just a leak on the side, but it was split clear around along the bottom. They took care of it pretty fast. Wasn't without water too long at all. ....Just out of curiosity, who's gotten their flu shot? We need to. One more thing out the way. Had to get another shot in my right shoulder..fearing the inevitable.. surgery. Ad long as these shots work, not doing that again too soon. Something that can't be done, is another ablation. Heart. Man it's been acting up bad. The worst it's been in years. Can't do the meds either. I just need to try and keep... unstressed! lol...View attachment 1945024 Pull in close with this first photo, you can see where the water is bubbling up. View attachment 1945025 View attachment 1945026 View attachment 1945027. You can see our smaller pipe to our place, the the main line leaking. View attachment 1945028 There's the bandaid as the neighbor put it. They wrapped a big piece of plastic around it, then covered the with gravel. Will let settle, then pave it over.
We had a main break at the end of our lane. It was impressive how much water there was!

I had my flu shot last Friday and it was fine!

You do not want to get influenza with heart problems. The vaccine will also protect you from the worst symptoms even if it does not protect you completely too

It is funny reading posts about snow. Our Fall is:

CA Weather comic.gif

Today is very windy with fire alerts, fires and power off for just shy of 100,000 customers. Not people LOL. That is in the millions.

Ron we have been following the fire news out of California. You all are really dealing with a mess that the rest of us really can not comprehend because we aren't there. Take care. As the doctor told the little boy who swallowed a nickel. This too shall pass.

@CapricornFarm. A bucket o'bunnies. That mental picture makes me smile.:)

Oh, I plan to tell my PCP about the pneumonia shot. I told my rheumy and he kind of chuckled and told me 'no doubt that was one potent shot that should do it's work! It really kicked your immune system into high gear.' I hadn't thought about it that way but maybe he's right.

Beautiful day here today. Sunny, fall chill in the air. Then there is this week's forecast......

  • For some reason I can't get this to show horizontally on BYC. It will on my email but not here. Frustrating! In all ways. It's very unusual to have snow this time of the year here. Never seen it happen before. It makes me wonder if the Farmer's Almanac knows what it's talking about when it said a harder, snowier winter this year.

As for broken water mains. That's a bite. I remember having a dog that kept digging a hole in our yard at the same place. We'd fill it she would dig it out again. Finally one day she got it deep enough that a little geyser appeared. Not good when you are on a well system.

Parents called in somebody who dug down and discovered that there was a crack in the hard line coming from the well head to the water tank. 1000$ later it was fixed.

Here the worry is the two trees in the front yard!

BYC is going to get an upgrade in the coming weeks. We will be getting a modern editor that will allow for things like picture organization. You can also resize the picture but dragging the boarders in the new editor

Then there is this week's forecast......
I don't know why all you people live south where there is snow! We've not seen even a hint of snow this year

In an "average" year it isn't unusual to have a small amount of snow in September and definitely some in October though that doesn't usually require moving. I did a final mowing, got the mower deck off the garden tractor and the (hopefully) repaired winch back on. Still need to get the chains on the rear tires, the weight on the back and the pulley system connected underneath then the blower can go on. Still need to put in the winter weight oil and replace the fuel filter. Snow tires will go on the cars in a couple of weeks.

Morning, We had one break yesterday not here up north a bit Auburn .. best of my recollection Ron doesn't this years fires cover almost all California that has burned recently seems the state is regenerating itself
It is a big State!

Even with all of the acres burnt, There is a lot that is fine.

The University sent us a warnme notice about dangerous winds and fallen trees on Campus. We will get an update tomorrow. Hopefully all will be well for heading to work tomorrow
