The Old Folks Home

We had a main break at the end of our lane. It was impressive how much water there was!

I had my flu shot last Friday and it was fine!

You do not want to get influenza with heart problems. The vaccine will also protect you from the worst symptoms even if it does not protect you completely too
You are so right Ron! We are going out first thing tomorrow to get our flu shot! There is a nursing home just 5 blocks from us that has something going on. A virus that has hit around 50 old folks, and they don't r expectct many of them to make it. They aren't letting any visitors in. The residents are being kept in their rooms. Food is being brought in to their rooms. Yep, going tomorrow. Someone brought that in to those folks.

It is funny reading posts about snow. Our Fall is:

Today is very windy with fire alerts, fires and power off for just shy of 100,000 customers. Not people LOL. That is in the millions.
Photo from my picture window a bit ago. It was coming down really wet ..now it's a real pretty snow fall, the big flakes falling slowly.

The odd thing about this wind is it smells like dust! The house smelled like it after midnight.

I wonder if this is like the wind during the dust bowl in Oklahoma

Might pose that question to your news people Ron.. They said our dry weather is coming from the north also cooled us down allot but dry next seven days also means fires here could be started if people are not smart
The Mayor of Sonoma said we will be having two or three more north wind events like this on over the next couple of weeks.

Come on wet weather pattern!

We took about a bushel of apples over to the neighbors yesterday. They show up today with a box of home canned veggies and some humongous sweet potatoes and butternut squash. AND a beautiful apple pie!:drool

Such nice people. I sent them home with my big canner and promised to come over next year and help them process veggies.

Sometimes I feel so blessed.

As for the nursing home, @Cynthia12, not unusual. Peeps are always bringing in viruses. Plus understaffing usually means that patient care staff is working when they are sick in order to cover the floors. I remember working one weekend and walking into a mess....literally. Over 60 old people with a GI virus on the two wings we were covering. It was sad. The other nurse I was working with and I were running medicines that after calling the doctors 5 or 6 times they finally gave us a standing order to cover everyone. When we weren't doling out Lomotil and stuffing suppositories we were cleaning up mess after mess. Amazing that not one staff member got sick which made me wonder if something funky had been included with dinner that night but we never knew and no cultures came back positive which pointed to a virus.

What is strange is that the first of October we would do flu shots. 50 odd shots a night so I wonder what virus got loose in that nursing home if all the residents were covered by flu shots.

We old folks are so vulnerable that way. Glad they have the place locked down. At least they are using their heads.

It is a big State!

Even with all of the acres burnt, There is a lot that is fine.

The University sent us a warnme notice about dangerous winds and fallen trees on Campus. We will get an update tomorrow. Hopefully all will be well for heading to work tomorrow
Yep on the other end of the state Camp Pendleton had a fire and Ramona Was on fire the other day so bad they had to evacuate. I haven heard the news but I think they are under control
