We don't have to mark the drive way either as it's like, if we hit the mailbox, we're too far to the east and if we hit the garbage dumpster we are too far to the west. Plus there are two big posts that the gate is hung on so aim between them and hope for the best.
But then there is the ravine on the other side of the road to worry about. In icy/snowy weather it's like, get a running start and don't slow up for nothin! Our first winter here we got the van stuck in the road cattywompus. Couldn't get up the drive. Kept sliding down. That ravine kept getting closer and closer. A young Amish man stopped and help push the beast out of the road for us. Next summer we had the driveway bulldozed so we didn't have to climb a hill to get to the house.
It's snowing here again. 2-4 inches before morning. The Fayoumis ventured out today but nobody else. Smart birds. Although I noticed that Tut kept one foot tucked up in his breast feathers at all times while his girls scratched about. Now that's dedication.
Tomorrow I'm making Apple Pie Jam. Never made it before but the recipe sounds delicious. I was going to make apple jelly but in all honesty I have a problem discarding perfectly good apple pulp or giving it to the chickens.
