Snowing just a bit. It was 43 today and supposed to go down to 9.
Sitting by the fire, very quiet except for some wind. This is the second night I heard the coyotes howling to each other. Haunting, and now that I have chickens, pretty scary. The coop is extremely secure (DH wants nothing less than completely safe birds, and he is a meticulous builder.): dog proof, HW cloth everywhere, double locked door. Secure run. But still scary, with the snow swirling with the wood smoke.

I always turn on the outside lights when I hear them. I hope it discourages them from coming closer.

And now, sleet. But the coyotes have gone away or at least, gone quiet.

But then you don't get any of the GOOD part, the DARK meat!!!

I know they are offering pre-prepared Thanksgiving Dinners for something like 89$.

Such a deal, better include a real good wine with that.

I had one young black Cocker female, she would jump on the bed and burrow her face under my chin. Every time she swallowed, it would tickle so much I couldn't stand it.We called her Sparkle Far_s and she DID!!

penny, I think you mentioned -maybe on a different thread, how much to mail prizes in a contest.

I ran a small one years ago and found sending small gift cards thru the mail, or even -email was cheaper than an actual 3 dimensional prize. Postage rates are through the roof. I sent Wally World gift cards cause I figure everyone has a Walmart somewhere., and they can be used towards online orders also.

@trumpeting_angel, we have been hearing coyotes for the past few nights. We can't hear them in the house but the 5 cattle dogs will run outside via their doggy door, throw their heads back and howl back at them which gets the two older dogs in the house going also. It's pretty hysterical to hear. The moment the coyotes stop, they stop, like somebody throwing a switch.

Must be the 'dingo' in them.

Last night I went out back and there was a barn owl behind the house hooting it's brains out. Then it would let loose this maniacal call that sounds like a deranged laugh. Pretty soon another owl joined in back in the forest and the owl behind the house took off flying to join it, hooting as it flew. It was pretty cool to hear the exchange.

I'm wondering if they are pairing up this time of the year.

Out this afternoon to deer hunt. Spending an afternoon in the timber with mother nature on a sunny November day a win win even if I don't see a deer.

how much to mail prizes in a contest.

It is good to check the options. Sometimes UPS is cheaper, sometimes USPS. I expect a gift card will always be cheapest since it is only an envelope and a "Forever" stamp at USPS. But for 3D things, it can depend on several factors.
