The Old Folks Home

Lot's of sales at the grocery store boxes up on boxes of stuffing canned, sweet potato,
canned everything I have stocked up on cranberries as BF and I both love them Son will not eat them leaves more for us so like 10 will get a few more before the season is out :yesss:

@CapricornFarm, I'm thinking the same thing. I told DH the poor thing might be back in our timber right now stone cold dead for all we know. They said he was bleeding heavily so it could be. I worry that if we see him and shoot him the meat might be tainted if the wound is infected. I'd have to be good and sure. If it is okay and one of us puts it down, I told the neighbors I would split the meat with them. Seems fair.

Thanks for the turkey information @Alaskan @drumstickdiva and @CapricornFarm. Not planning to hatch eggs but the guy who ordered my Fayoumis for me this year will be ordering new chicks in the spring since he lost his whole flock. Geezers I hope he gets that silly shed secured before then. I will probably order a few poults and 3 chicks to go along with them. I wouldn't mind having a few more bantam hens.

I don't think there are too many buffets around us. Maybe Hyvee's restaurant has one. Think they did last year but I haven't heard anything this year. I know they are offering pre-prepared Thanksgiving Dinners for something like 89$.

Where's the stress out fun in that?:yesss:

There is only two of us having Thanksgiving dinner. The problem with eating out, is no leftovers.

Years ago he found a Golden Corral having buffet dinner. On the window it advertised the turkey for thanksgiving. After standing in a long line waiting to pay for the priviledge, they told us they were "all out of turkey." What a bummer. We stayed and ended up eating cold, tough steak. Never went back.:rant:mad::tongue

I have one like that, Penny. She is a little gray cat named June Bug. Likes to sit by my head in the morning and pat me on the eye lids with her little paws. DH says maybe she is trying to make sure I'm still breathing....she wants to make sure I'm dead before she starts to eat me.

Oh I am very much alive, as she soon learns. But no matter how many times I dump her off the bed, she comes back and does it again. If I cover up my head, she fishes under the blankets for my face. Just a little....well you know.

she is lead B if you know what I mean two boys out weigh her by 10 lbs she kicks their butts
Yep. June weighs 7 pounds her half brother weighs 18. Our second oldest cat RooRoo thinks she is the boss though and weighs about 16 pounds. Our old vet used to call her our little 'Budda' cat due to her rolly polly shape.

Snowing just a bit. It was 43 today and supposed to go down to 9.
Sitting by the fire, very quiet except for some wind. This is the second night I heard the coyotes howling to each other. Haunting, and now that I have chickens, pretty scary. The coop is extremely secure (DH wants nothing less than completely safe birds, and he is a meticulous builder.): dog proof, HW cloth everywhere, double locked door. Secure run. But still scary, with the snow swirling with the wood smoke.

I always turn on the outside lights when I hear them. I hope it discourages them from coming closer.
