The Old Folks Home

Perchi, do you do take out?

That menu sounds delicious!

Here I will make two main courses. DH doesn't like Turkey. I love it so for him I will make a roast beef, cooked in the slow cooker. He's very easy to feed and please as he doesn't like a lot of seasoning or herbs on his meat. I will have a half of a 10 pound turkey. The giblets have already been cooked and donated to the pups and dogs as I cannot eat organ meat, but I will season the turkey and cook it in a low heat oven. I have to have that crisp golden brown skin. S***W the low cholesterol diet. I will eat that luscious skin!

Then there will be 'real' mashed potatoes compared to instant. I haven't decided whether to make gravy or not. I may make some for each of us just as a treat. Neither of us are supposed to eat it but hey, it's Thanksgiving!

Veggie side is still undecided.....One of those things where you ask your spouse what they would like and when they say I dunno, I respond, yes, but I don't know how to cook Idunno! There will be whole cranberry sauce on the table.

I will make home made rolls and for desert, naturally there will be pumpkin pie which I will make on Wednesday afternoon.

Since it is just the two of us, I tend to make what we both like on holidays. Growing up it was a feast that my mother spent a week making. Couldn't eat it all and get it all on one plate. Lots of left overs. I love left over turkey but I've learned to make enough for a small family of two so we still aren't eating Thanksgiving dinner on New Years.
Hubby does the same thing, except he cooks a whole turkey. In FL we always had family for holidays, but I guess 12 hours is too far.

Dh ordered some Christmas cookie cutters for me last night, and a lazy susan. We've discussed getting my stand mixer fixed. I have a great hand mixer that I've been using instead. The only thing with the hand mixer is that I needed a lazy susan to set the mixing bowl on, to keep it turning easily.

Yum.
Cranberry clementine sauce? My father's specialty was cranberry orange, ground together in their old grinder. YUM - I'll bet cranberry clementine is wonderful.

I'm starting my baking. Made stock overnight in the slow cooker. Making roasted vegetables and cranberry bread to take to MIL's house, maybe a pumpkin pie. The kids and grand are coming late Thursday night. Maybe more cranberry bread - I can make 2 loaves! And lamb chops for Friday.
I use the Juice instead of water for the sauce... And cut slivers of the Clementine skin to add to the sauce... I did it lastime with orange but want to use those Cuties Because I love the flavor.

Oh and I forgot the lemon. They had meyer lemons in the store so I bought a bag of four. They are fragrant with a hint of orange and way less acidic... Good to freshen up any dish if it gets too heavy.

@microchick - Lots of cooking for two people! You are so energetic!

Not as energetic as I used to be, Angel. Last Thanksgiving was a blur thanks to the methotrexate. No appetite, no energy. Didn't enjoy it.

This year I'm making up for it!:drool

What hand mixer do you use? My Kitchenaid stand mixer bit the dust a couple years ago, and I’m not going to replace it.

kitchen aid mixers are easily fixed! There are parts for all of them and you tube videos to show the repair process.

I got out and cleaned half the coop, started coughing so I came in to take Mucinex. In a little while I will go out and clean the other side, then spray. I am going to have to take the cochin off her nest to clean it, she is not going to like that.
