We've had one tree with lights. Half the lights died with about two years worth of use. Kinda turned me off of pre-lit trees. Last year I bought a 'pencil' shaped tree on Amazon that fits the space in the living room perfectly. But little did I know that it was going to be an engineering feet to put lights on. I think I pulled off the 100 light LED strand that I put on it 4 times before I finally got it looking right.

My other little tree that is in our 'family room' area was my dad's fiber optic tree when he was in the nursing home. It's about 20 years old now. DH worked on the lighting system for it last year. It's showing it's age but I don't want to discard it. So I added lights to it this year. It was a snap to do. Must be something about the shape of the trees.

Thanks for reminding me about cat litter, Penny. DH reminded me last night that we were out, which with 5 cats isn't hard to do.

I don't know if I mentioned it but our 18 year old Siamese mix cat, Cash, who is diabetic, popped out of remission after three years and isn't doing well. His blood sugars are running in the 400s in spite of three units of insulin and a no carb diet. His poor body is just betraying him. We opted for quality over quantity of life for him tho so all things considered, going three years in remission is an excellent run so he is in God's hands now and we are enjoying every minute we have with him. He has lost about half of his weight and painfully thin right now but as long as he is eating and drinking and not suffering we are supporting him the best we can...and loving him.

That cat has used a lot of his 9 lives!

Thank you, @drumstickdiva, @CapricornFarm, @penny1960 @KDOGG331. No, not easy but this cat has literally had a remarkable 18 years. He had been dumped in a rural subdivision near the town where DH had his practice. They adopted him, named him Johnny Cash, the man in black and he would make his rounds every day, visiting kitchens and back steps for meals and handouts. Everyone knew and loved Cash. He came to us when residents saw him crossing a busy county road and feared his days were numbered. We gladly took him into our lives. There has never been a question concerning going the extra mile with Johnny Cash. He's earned every day and more. There should be more cats just like him in our lives.

Tasteless Turkey?

Spouse went crazy... and today... the day after Thanksgiving... spouse and the kids made 5 pies!

Banana cream, apple cream, chocolate, peanutbutter, and nutella.

The apple cream pie was my favorite.

I was toying with making a pie this weekend. I might make apple streusel instead since the apples need to be used up

Dutch Apple pie....

On a funnier note. The pups were in the house this morning, behaving themselves for a change, playing with a ball that they were passing around and then bringing to us to be short tossed for the resulting scramble.

We took our attention off of them for a moment and in that moment, Roxie rolled the ball under the table holding my dad's Christmas tree. None of the pups have showed any interest in the trees but in retrieving the ball, Roxie stuck her head in the lighting cords, and yep, tangled herself up, panicked, and took off running, lights flying, the tree bouncing after her. She raced madly around the living room, the little tree chasing after her and her 4 siblings chasing after her trying to avoid that demon tree that was in hot pursuit.

DH was finally able to stop her and get her untangled. I was laughing my head off. Got the tree set back up. No damage done. Everything still worked. Three of the dogs went over to it and gave it wary sniffs.

Probably the best thing that could happen. They really respect that evil Christmas tree that has the ability to chase after them.

Cute as heck.. My coops are cleaned I am in and warm longs johns today darn it is cold outside took silkies to their tractor they run to me to be carried out so cute cluck to me as I carry them .. two eggs there three so far in the main coop have some of my older ones laying again

yeah, it was one of those times where I wish I'd had warning so I could have grabbed a camera or the phone. It happened so FAST!
