The Old Folks Home

chopped the rest of the turkey sharing nastier bits with the doggie... No fat only a little bit of skin... skin was ikky anyway went into the bone pile... Though I did Shave off some gristle just for deserving dog consumption.... I even put a paper plate down on the floor for her... i chopped and tossed her a bit... and so it went.

All consumable fat went into the dressing Which the human denizens in this family Ate the VEry first day.... I didnt even get a second helping

So there is enough Mushroom gravy and enough potatoes and enough Turkey meat to make a stew... And about a liter and a half of Turkey stock....Everything in the pot.... only fresh goes in will some freshly chopped onions Celery and Carrot .
I might throw in some of those contemptable Dried Tomatoes cut into slivers. (mom wasnt a fan ...LOL) Let'er pickem out... :lau

The stock will loosen up the gravy and turkey... May add in a few Garlic cloves too.
It will be served either over egg noodles or toasted Sourdough bread cut into sticks. Normally I reserve the sourdough bread sticks for S.O.S. But I think I may make an exception this go round....:gig

once stew is made I have Green beans to pressure can... and maybe a garlic clove or two added...

What are those? We have them here never knew what kind of plant they come from but I always make a dried flower arrangement and put a few of those spiky things in it, also with chinese lanterns growing wild on our tree line, and a few others. Didn't do it this year though.

Processed those two bronze toms few days before thanksgiving. Big one 50lbs live, 40lbs dressed. Didn't weigh the other, figure about 10lbs lighter. I'll never do that again.. Thought I could fit them in a feed sack to keep them from flopping, didn't fit. Then dw says they won't fit in oven, they probably would with the rack on bottom...not good. Didn't plan on cooking one for thanksgiving so... how to seal them up for freezer? Had to cut them up.

Yeah... I knew someone that grew a monster like that... she was able to whack it in half and get the half into the oven...just barely though.

You rather need the air to be able to fully circulate around the turkey.

All sounds good there Perchie but hate stewed tomato with you Mom yes would pick them out
slivers about the size of a match stick.... they are dried and dont soften till you put them in what ever you are cooking them with.

So No Not Stewed tomatoes persay... They just lend a bit of tartness rather than using lemon juice...

They went a bit long before processing?

It sounds like quite an adventure! I bet you are happy to have it over with
