The Old Folks Home

I paid closer to $90.00 for the one that just died. $50.00 is not overpriced at all. Yes, it's worth every penny.
Meeses are like $10 - $15, what is so special about your $50 mouse?

I, too, will wear out a computer mouse quicker than anything. Usually by the time my laptop bites the dust there have been at least two mice that went to tech disposal. Never have worn out a keyboard.
Mouse with a laptop? Isn't the that what the trackpad is for?

Perchie I can completely empathize with you. Opened my credit card bill to discover a 9000 dollar charge to a jewelry store in Texas for a diamond tennis bracelet. I was in a blind panic. I knew I hadn't bought it and DH hadn't bought it. I called and they asked me if I was sure DH hadn't bought me a nice surpirse Christmas Gift. I told them yes I was positive because A) I'm not a diamond tennis bracelet kind of woman, I'm a Smith and Wesson type of woman and there weren't any revolver charges on my bill. And B) if he had bought anything that extravagant for me I'd be calling 911 instead of the credit card company. (joking of course) DH buys me nice gifts but not diamond tennis bracelets. Not my or his lifestyle.

I have theft protection on our cards so they turned me over to fraudulent charge department who went to work on it. A couple of months later they called me back with a name and asked me if I knew that individual and I told them absolutely not. To this day I don't know how they got my information although I suspect it was one of two purchases, one filling up the car on a road trip where the clerk took my credit card and turned her back on me to process it. Or an on line purchase that I made to a new company.

Now I seldom if ever do a purchase where I can't use paypal and keep my credit card in my hand. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I hate paypal also but better the devil you know than the one you don't know.

Morning everyone. Happy Thursday. Only 20 more days till Christmas. Hope your shopping adventures are all good ones!

Sorry but track pads are prettymuch Crap for me... I have used them when My mouse died... But I could never get used to them.

I looked up some of those uber gaming mice... And I can see why one would want to spend $$ for one. Sixty dollars for a programmable one.

i am mostly a touch typist... but these days the keyboard keys that I dont use often have dissappered from memory... And I need LIGHT to see ... Son hates the light in this room so its off most of the time. and I cant pop up to switch it on occasionally..

The mouse just may be my solution. Usb has a light on the side for those key buttons... also mechanical.

I could turn it just a bit for ilumination ... I am on the fence about the keyboard.

Oh and I found them on Amazon..

bruce, having to use my regular mouse waiting for the new one, the first thing I noticed is travel distance. BTW that was also the first thing that annoyed me when I was first getting used to the expensive mouse, but in reverse. With the cheaper one, it is set to read so many pixels at a time, so you have to move the mouse a further distance to get the cursor across your screen. The more expensive mouse has 3 settings for the number of pixels it reads, meaning that with the click of one of the buttons, you can change the speed instantly. Yes, I use one main speed predominantly, but can speed it up, or slow it down instantly. The results are being able to move the cursor all over the screen much faster, without having to move the mouse as far. This greatly reduces the strain on the wrist, helping reduce problems like carpal tunnel. In addition, the speed is very beneficial if you have more than one monitor, or you have your television hooked into your computer to watch movies. You can move the mouse from one screen to the other quickly, and again you don't have to move the mouse as far to cover the distance. Even with only 1 monitor, score results on some games can be greatly improved.

Being faster, and with less physical motion involved, are useless if it's blurry, or not precise. That's another advantage with the better optics in the more expensive mouse. No motion blur, and it's pinpoint accurate.

Another huge advantage is the scroll wheel. There is a button, so I can use it like a regular mouse scroll wheel, but click the button, and the scroll wheel is free turning with no resistance. I always use free turning. When someone has posted something her on The Old Folks Home, but there are a lot posts, and I go back trying to find that particular post to refer to it, not having any real resistance to scrolling up, and down pages means I can do it more quickly, with less strain on my hands.

While these advantages may not mean much to many, the biggest advantage is less strain on the wrist, hand, and fingers.

I find that track pads and my fingers are not as accurate as a clicky mouse. My laptop pretty much stays on the kitchen counter, so kind of a mini desktop situation.

At least twice a year I'm hit with fraudulent credit card charges. It is SO important to read over your bills as soon as they come in. Most of the time it's easy to spot as I do not fly JetBlue nor pay Dominican power bills nor have an entertainment system to buy gaming products for. The credit card companies have been good about taking care of those errant charges and sometimes will catch things before I do...like they know I wouldn't buy a large screen TV in France. (Quel souvenir!) I do let the cards know when I travel abroad and during what time so there's no questions arising from abroad charges. Sadly, we live in an age of pro-active vigilance because our information can be hacked from any number of sources.

There are several good name brands of mechanical keyboards, and some are cheaper than the Ducky Shine, but they are not, and never will be even close to a Ducky. If you're going to spend $89.00 for a Logitech mechanical keyboard, go ahead and pony up the extra for a Ducky Shine. Over the long haul, you'll be glad you did.
