The Old Folks Home

Thanks, @getaclue

Just got back from a fast run into town and back. I had a nice person who hunts game birds give me a pheasant.

Does anybody have any good recipes for baked pheasant? I have never cooked one and it's been over 60 years since I've eaten one!

Just had a real thrill that made all the study to become a HAM operator worth our while.

The International Space Station did a fly over of our area and we were able to connect with their frequency and listen to ISS to ground conversations. Amateur radio operators can actually schedule a time that they can 'talk' to the astronauts there. There is usually at least one HAM operator on board and from what I have read the waiting list is HUGE! I'd rather give the school kids a chance to talk to the astronauts as I would probably just get tongue tied.

But it was a real pleasure to get to hear them for the few minutes that they were within range. Pretty impressive that we could hear them at all considering how high up they are.

Missed the next pass with the ISS. Another possibility in an hour and a half when it passes to the north of us. Better chance of picking up signals if they are to the south or the north of Missouri. Weird how that propagation of bandwaves works other than it just does. There is donut of sorts around our antenna where the center is the dead zone. Best signals are around the 'hole'.

MMMMMMMM bacon.....dare I try it? I mean bacon is pork and well, bacon. High on my do not eat foods but I just may say to you know where with it and do it.

Is pheasant a 'drier' meat?
I suspect it is they fly alot... Id be tempted to roast it Like Guinea fowl. IN the dutch oven over some good veggies and some stock.
