The Old Folks Home

I love banana bread ron. Hint hint:gig
I made blueberry banana bread today. Last time I made banana bread with walnuts and not blueberries. You can have your favorite!

Good thing you have work tomorrow so you can rest!
I know!

Now I have to get the video from the sermon at church converted and up on vimeo. During that I will start the yard work

We are supposed to get rain Mon and Tues. SO not looking forward to that! I'm hoping there is enough snow on the ground to absorb it rather than turning to ice.

We are pretty unexcited about the forecast down here, too. Vermont does NOT want rain in December. Spoils the Christmas-card look. We are going skiing tomorrow - DH’s birthday and it won’t be raining at that altitude (though it will on Tuesday).

The big question is to plow or not to plow? We had about 2-3 inches unplowed, and he decided to go ahead and plow it. So bring on the Zamboni after the rain! We have buckets of sand, too.

Hurt like he!! I actually went to work Fri and was going to put it off till end of day but showed the lab supervisor when I was testing a milk sample, he's a baddasz retired Marine sergeant, he said 'damn, you better get to urgent care and get a shot or something for that!' Soo, beings I know he's seen much worse I asked if I could leave and get it taken care of Lol.

OMG OMG!

I am seriously glad you got medical care and are taking antibiotics. That is one nasty infection.

I had a cat bite years ago, swelled up badly, ER doc put me on antibiotics and sent me home. But since he spent about 90 seconds on me, I went to see my own doc too.
“What are you doing at work? Go home, elevate it, moist heat. You can get up to go to the bathroom and MAYBE to eat! People died of this before we had antibiotics. Come back in two days and if you’re not better, bring your pajamas.”

Indeed, she admitted me and I was there for four days, bored out of my mind.

I thought it might be overkill, but I rely on their judgment. Cat bites are not to be trifled with. Neither, apparently, are turkey germs!

A post about chickens

S
o, with about 4-5 inches of snow on our steep hill yesterday, by late morning Blackbird decided to venture out. She flew to a low spot in the hill, was joined by Callie, and they somehow made their way to an evergreen with plain dirt under it. They settled in for the day. One of the buffies joined them.

But I had to get to the pharmacy and grocery store. So I rattled my scratch and called and called. Then I scrambled my way up, slipping and sliding, making a path with my footprints. Nope.

I scattered scratch on the path and cooed at them. Uh-uh.

Finally, Miss Buffy ventures out to the nearest deposit of scratch, about 2 inches from the edge of the snow. I picked her up and carried her home. She was appreciative, as there was more scratch waiting there from my first efforts.

Callie and Blackbird, seeing that Buffy had endured a fate worse than death, hid under the tree in the poopy dirt. I will spare you the whole story, but after a half hour all were locked safely in the coop and I got to go shopping.
Today they stuck to the porch until the snow was cleared up and I put some hay down. But did not venture far!

Silly chickens.
