The Old Folks Home

Merry Christmas @CapricornFarm. Like mentioned, sure hope you are feeling better.

I'm sitting here on the sofa in a food coma. Last year I couldn't eat. I had no appetite thanks to the methotrexate I was on plus I had a roaring case of the flu. I don't even remember cooking Christmas dinner although I know I did. Nor do I remember eating much of what I cooked.

This year I ate! Christmas cookies, turkey breast roasted to perfection and juicy. Wild rice, buttered baby carrots, Kings Hawaiian rolls (okay, I got lazy and didn't bake home made bread rolls this year) and pumpkin pie. I ate first, seconds and munched on cookies all afternoon. I can safely say I am gorged and ready to go back on my diet tomorrow and stay on it till next Christmas.

Temps here were in the mid 60s. DH and I took a walk in the timber with the two older dogs and heard robins in the trees that stay here over the winter months. I'm sure the weather has them completely confused. It's confusing everyone at the moment, but reality tells us that it will be 'winter' again and the snow will be flying before we realize it.

This Christmas goes down in the history books as a good one for our family.

Hope all of yours' was also.

It’s a great Christmas when you watch a toddler open presents, and sit down to play with them. The biggest hits were magnetic tiles you can play with like blocks, but easier, all the books, and the little table and chairs. Sorry for the tilted photo!

She got tired from all the excitement but rallied after brunch. I left for home, but the little family gets on a flight at 7 am to Chicago, for another Christmas with his family.

Beautiful to be back in snow country! Despite recent warm weather, my neighborhood has retained its snow.

I received some lovely and some fun gifts. We ate good food. When the little one awakened at night I sang her back to sleep, without her mama! Feels good.

Merry Christmas every one... we had a quiet one first Christmas without grandma.

Santa gave me a new keyboard... Found a split mechanical with LED lights Yay I can see where my fingers are when I loose track. its got those cherry Keys and I love the feel.
my son got me a new set of head phones... very comfy for when I binge watch stuff on amazon.

I got him a new keyboard with Cherry keys. Is moisture resistant They didnt have ergomic key board Or I would have gotten one for me. But I like this Kinesis Ergonomic keyboard.

so Now no more stuck together keys or non functioning keys... and a standard keyboard without a number key pad... Reminds me of the old days.

I prefer gas, but I think us that do it has a lot with it being a flame, fire, cooking on fire vs a orange hot metal thingy, fire just seems more natural.
not to mention instant control... turn it off and very little residual heat... Thats what I like about gas. Mine is propane at home. Love it.

There is a rule that the kids can only play with Play-Doh, and Slime outside. They can go on the patio, on the patio table, but NOT in the house. The Slime was added to the rule, when the 8 year old was bouncing it on my walls, and it left splotches that had to be cleaned. At times, my daughter thought I was a bit unreasonable about this rule. After all, it only happened once, it was cleaned up, and my grandson knows not to bounce it on the walls now.

The youngest granddaughter, got some slime for Christmas. Her mother opened the container, squished it a minute, then put it back in the container, and put it up, to be played with outside, at a later time. She did not know there was a 6 pack of the stuff. My youngest granddaughter knew. She got the rest out, and was playing with it, tossing it in the air, and catching it. No one knew she had it, or was playing with it. I walked into the play area, and almost fainted. She had tossed it up, and into the ceiling fan. The fan flung slime everywhere. I screamed for her mother to come clean it up.

My daughter may have gotten out of helping me clean the house, and get it ready for Christmas. She may have gotten out of helping me cook Christmas dinner. She may have gotten out of helping clean up after Christmas dinner. BUT by golly, she had to clean every square inch of my walls in the play area, the ceiling fan, and a few of the toys in there. Suddenly, my unreasonable rule about that kind of stuff having to be played with outside, isn't tough enough. The new rule, according to her, is that there will be NO SLIME anywhere on the property, ever.
