The Old Folks Home

I havent had the flu in years ... Knock on wood... tapping head... I rarely got a flu shot until I moved in with grandma. She had an immune system like a bank vault. never saw her with the sniffles or even a mild cold In all her years. Grandpa on the other hand got a couple per year...

BUt I used to get Bronchitis... Which would linger on for quite a few days and afterwards I would have a cough for at least a month. Later On I found Out I had asthma Triggered by Allergies. Soon as I got meds for it those stopped ... And I sorted out what it was that I was allergic to... Molds... go figure. And Alfalfa...:barnie

I'm feeling much better today. Yesterday I didn't get off the couch much. I hate being sick. Perchie, I am like you, I rarely get sick. I know there is a bug going around and I think DH and I got it from the grands because they were all sick a few days before we went up there. Glad you are also feeling better Diva! OK weill I have a couple more pillowcases to make and I need to do up a small design for DH for something I gave him for Christmas but didn't have time to decorate before I wrapped it.

Happy post Christmas everyone. Nobody sick here...@drumstickdiva, @dsqard, feel better fast and that's an order!:hugs

@penny1960 what kind of sadistic doctor orders fasting blood work AFTER Christmas?

@perchie.girl, vertigo isn't fun no matter how old you are. DH had a middle ear infection once and the vertigo knocked him flat. All caused by his allergies. Me, when I get the flu it turns into asthmatic bronchitis because of my allergies.

So far this morning I made regular bread and banana bread. Waiting for the banana bread to get out of the oven so I can knead down the bread for it's second rising.

@bruceha2000, ya surely I did. Back on the diet now. I had lost 5 pounds after I got my last Prolia shot. No appetite for about two weeks afterwards. So I had some 'wiggle room' when it came to devouring good food and yep, wiggled my way through the treats with no regrets.

I woke up this morning with a throbbing knee and right shoulder. Nope, getting old ain't for the faint of heart.

Nothing wrong with looking mature.

I am probably Maturer than anyone except Sourland. Our birthdays are a day apart but in his case I'm sure MANY, MANY, YEARS BEFORE MINE. JUST KIDDING- MAYBE

[So how many years in an eon?:idunno ]

I tend to look young for my age...well, in the face anyway. My body over the years has morphed into -- ahem -- a rather matronly form. Thanks, Grandma! I always find it amusing that when younger I was carded lots (attending movies, buying liquor, entering clubs) and that now I literally have to demand a senior discount at stores and/or when attending the Monday Matinee (senior discount = $1.18 entry) I get carded once again. I stopped coloring my hair and the gray just makes it look sort of blond from a distance. My additional weight has sort of plumped out my wrinkles. Oh, well. Not complaining.

DH, I and the dogs ventured up to Santa Fe for Christmas and got a mild half-day white one before the sun melted the overnite dustings. The big snowstorm to hit Friday and I was ready for it... Lots of firewood, foodstuffs and reading material. But Wednesday late night/Thursday early morning one of the dogs got sick (diarrhea and vomiting) and we decided it was probably more prudent to be home with access to the vet vs. being stranded in close quarters with a liquid spewing beast, and so we came back down the hill where the storm will have less of an impact. (Dog is doing better; we're still sleep deprived.)

The storm is a-coming. My knees say so as they're starting to lock up. I am walking like a penguin. I think it's time for a nap and, hopefully, they'll reset and ease into something a little swifter. I tell folks that if aliens are to invade, they can run and I'll be the snacky sacrifice. Glad there are no bears in my neighborhood.
