The Old Folks Home

My DD has the allergies and milk intolerance too! Also eczema which is a symptom also

Hopefully the allergies and eczema will clear up after she is gluten free for a couple of months.

@CapricornFarm, that is one of the things the Lyme expert Dr Burrescano stresses in his study. The mainstream medical professionals are saying "Oh, don't fret all you need is 10 days of antibiotics and wave a magic wand, you're cured" just ain't so. The organism that causes Lyme goes through a metamorphosis where it morphs from an active organism to a 'cystic' stage that will hide in your organs, muscles and nerves. Those buggies can sense antibiotics in your system and form cysts as self defense.

Those cysts usually go through a cycle where every 30 days or so they will break. You can actually cause them to break and when they do you need to be on the antibiotics. You know if the antibiotics are working if you experience Hirxheimer (sic) effects, feeling exceptionally bad as the organisms die off and your body struggles to shed them from your system.

That's why Burrescano stresses that you need to be on long term antibiotics, so when the cysts break, they can be killed off before they retreat to the cystic stage.

I really hate to hear that you are feeling crappy yet. It's such a hard disease to kick and docs still really don't know how to deal with it. In the meantime, people suffer.

Speaking of suffering.....Our weather for Saturday 3-6 or more inches of snow......I may be studying for another month if we can't get out.

Thanks! She has the endoscopy next Friday

I don't know how I manage to get problems the doctors don't know how to handle. First it was IBS. Even the gastroenterologist had no idea what to do, they thought I needed a hysterectomy.

Same here Cap. I don't think they truly know what is wrong with me either. So far they have said serum negative RA, Gout, Osteoarthritis and the only one they are sure of is the OA along with the degenerative disc and vertebral disease. I still get these flares of inflammation that they just don't know where they are coming from or what they are. It gets frustrating

Has anybody ever suggested finding a communicable disease specialist near where you are? My doc wanted me to see one when I was fighting Lyme. We have a Lyme specialist in Columbia. A google search should tell you what's available.

Also, have they tested for companion diseases?

@ronott1, sorry to hear about the DD. But glad they are getting to the bottom of what is wrong with her. Not knowing is the pits and diet is an easy fix. Just takes reeducating yourself and sticking with it.....and not fudging on the diet.

I am very happy that she is getting the tests. That way we will know for sure

They think any associated diseases will go away with the first round of antibiotics. They don't bother to test. I asked them to.

The treatments/antibiotics used in the associated/companion diseases are different. I think babeiosis is treated with a z-pack. While Lyme is treated with a cycline. It's been ten years so I'd have to find Burescanno's report and look it up.

I read that most people with Lyme have at least one other tick born infection that basically is transmitted along with the Lyme bug.

Have you been to www.lymnenet.org? They have a really good what they call a 'flash discussion' that talks about ALL of it. I used to be active on it.

It's staggering to see how many people are dealing with this nasty stuff.

We have a winter storm watch in effect now. They're saying .10-.25 inches of ice covered with 4-6 inches of snow.

Frankly, I preferred today's weather. 60+ degrees and sunshine but I ain't in charge! Blah!

I will have to look that up, thanks!
