The Old Folks Home

That is it...and my lack of money.... I keep thinking. WHAT IF I DAMAGE THE CAR!!!!!

Perhaps 15 or so years ago we took our then house dog to the boarding kennel as we were going away for our anniversary. I was driving a 2WD light pickup truck. Got stuck in the kennel driveway and had to walk the dog in. On the way home there's a 2.5 mile hill at about an average 45 degree angle. I went up that thing fish tailing from side to side with the Princess chanting, "You're doing fine, you're doing fine." This was a true test of my sobriety as I so wanted a beer when we got home. No more driving in snow storms even though I now drive a 4 WD.

Shingles. Been there done that on my....ummmm...okay they were on my butt. I had a cyst on my lower back at that time that bothered me. I went to the doctor thinking it was flaring up and the nurse asked to see it. Dropped trou and she said. Nope, no problem with the cyst but you have a dandy case of shingles back here.

Never knew I had chicken pox. My dad had a horrible case of shingles on the whole right side of his back. HUGE blisters. I called the health dept and they told me it was possible to have 'silent chickenpox' where you may think you have a cold, maybe have one or two bumps that you think are bug bites but nope...chickenpox.

Mine went into shingles neuritis. Very painful.

As for the vaccine. DH took the first and then when they came out with the improved, he took shot 1 of that and got sicker than a dog. No more vaccines for him. He said he'd rather risk the shingles.

Frankly, I'd rather risk the shot......

I am going to get my second shingles vaccine!

Allot of falls to 28 to 35 ers that refused to vaccinate over false studies done when they were young... Intelligent of all nationalities said oh causes autism can't do that
Those people are called anti-vaxers, which is why I mentioned them. Yes, a person made a claim that their child became autistic after the vaccine. Others chimed in, and without any proof, they concluded the vaccines cause autism. A lot of money, research, and time went into studying it, not just by big pharma. It has been debunked. After that, the focus against vaccinating was on statistics regarding those that had experienced any negative reaction, including death. Yes, a very small percentage of people do have adverse effects, and an even smaller percentage die from the vaccines. Using those statistics alone, would easily be a cause for concern with many parents, and be a driving force against vaccinating their children.

There are a few major FLAWS using that line of thinking. There is a good deal of data that was collected regarding the death toll, on various diseases, and in some cases, data on the number permanently, severely impaired, prior to a vaccine for them. Far greater numbers of people, especially children, died from suffering the actual disease, versus the number that suffer, and/or die from being inoculated. Furthermore, most of these diseases cause extreme pain, and/or suffering, and with many of them, death is not always swift. Some of the diseases, even if a person survived, left the survivors severely impaired, or handicapped, both physically, and mentally. Depending on the year, and/or the outbreak of which disease, there were plenty of years that 50% or more children, under the age of 18, were not expected to survive.

We've come a long way with modern medicine, however, without vaccines, modern medicine is still not fully equipped to deal with major outbreaks of some of the worst diseases.

Just food for thought: any adverse reactions to any vaccine, that warrants a doctor's visit, an ER visit, or a stay in the hospital, MUST be reported to the CDC. They keep track of Batch, and LOT numbers on all vaccines. It's exceeding rare, but if they get several reports too quickly, or more reports than normal, they will pull those Lots, and/or Batches to ensure public safety.

Like maybe Smallpox, polio? Nah, let's stop vaccinating for those.

I am still waiting for the "fountain of youth."
I'm not sure, from a "mankind" point of view, that a FoY would be a good idea! There are already 7.7 billion people, imagine what would happen if everyone was eternally young and kept making more humans.

I keep thinking. WHAT IF I DAMAGE THE CAR!!!!!
Or what if someone else damages your car, especially if they total it. You will be out money because you'll have a tough time finding an equivalent vehicle for the price you get paid.

Yep. The doctor said some people might have flu like symptoms for a day or two (your DH must be an extreme case). I will say that I didn't sleep well last night. My arm didn't hurt until I went to bed and laid on it ... then  🤕. I tend to sleep on my side more than my back and DW doesn't allow me to sleep on my right side because for whatever reason I snore more on that side. Being right handed I give "providers" my left arm for shots and blood draws. It didn't help that DD2's cat decided last night was my turn to be his leaning spot. He stays down near the knee but it sure limits movement. Hopefully tonight will be better.

That’s the thing I’ve never understood about the anti-vax people.... even if the vaccines DID cause autism (which they definitely don’t), they would rather their kid be DEAD than autistic!?
