I used both on the walls and the batting on the ceiling. Let me see if I can find pictures.
We used R13 batting with the paper back. Stapled the paper to the studs as you're supposed to then covered with plywood. This is most of the walls and the ceiling. The two walls we did (one was taken out in the addition) we ran out of 2x4s and used them sideways, so there wasn't enough space to put regular batting insulation in there let alone staple it in so we used the styrofoam.

This is the weird wall that we had to use the other insulation type with, just cut it to fit. Sorry I don't have a picture of it with insulation, but it's the same principle.

We ended up putting t-111 over the soffits, and some pretty edging but otherwise, this was it, prior to the addition.
