The Old Folks Home

Because of this, Publix Supermarket, and a few others, are now limiting purchases of some things to 2 per customer. Plastic cups, paper plates, paper towels, plastic silverware, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
Given this isn't a physical threat I can't see stocking up on plastic cups/cutlery or paper plates. Of course we never use any of those things anyway. Only reason would be if there was no power to get water from the well to wash "permanent" items. Way too much plastic tossed in the landfills as it is.

I love the Saf Insta Yeast in the big one pound packages.
That seems like a LOT of yeast!!

And, who's got to pay for that mistake? Not us! Thing is, it will be mostly covered by ins. 🙄 And I mean mostly.
Whoever couldn't tell testicles from a prostate should be paying out of their own wallet.

Some times I have to tape the door shut but by golly it works and is just for 48 hours. If I have room in the upright freezer I put it there.

Trust me, it's worth the hassle.
OK, what am I doing "wrong"? I've never once found any critters in a package of "flour like" or other dry foods. Never would even have thought I'd need to freeze them.

@bruceha2000, it's not a lot of yeast when you make your own bread and hamburger buns. My bread recipe for Amish Sweet Bread takes 1.5 tablespoons of yeast and the hamburger bun recipe takes 2 tablespoons. If I make sourdough or machine bread it takes less but I make sourdough as a treat and machine bread if I'm not feeling well or it's too hot for the oven to be on.

Trust me, using that much yeast per recipe makes the container go down real fast.

As for freezing the flour. I've found worms in boxes of Jiffy mix if I keep them around too long or don't freeze them. Not so much in store bought flour although it has happened. If I bring any flour or flour products in from bulk stores I definitely freeze it as I've found worms in them if I don't. Those little buggers spread like...well like the coronavirus is in the big cities.

If you aren't fining them in your flour products you should consider yourself lucky. Maybe it's a regional thing?

Best investment in appliances has been our garage freezer. Did some inventory and we could easily go a month in lockdown. That's just frozen stuff and not counting what's in our three pantries. We do have an extra supply of dog and chicken food and have laid in some distilled water for our CPAP machines. If worse came to worst, I have a still that I could process our well water in. Bathroom has a bidet, so we don't use much TP. (TP can be found in massive bulk on Amazon, btw. But storage of 96 rolls might be a problem.)

Funny thing is that NM, thus far, is one of the CoViD-19 unaffected states. However, two of the passengers on the Princess ship docked in Oakland are from Albuquerque on their honeymoon cruise. They're now quarantined, so not scheduled back here for 14 days. Local TV is telling folks not to use vodka as a hand sanitizer because it's too low in alcohol. I guess maybe that bottle of Everclear could come in handy?
