The Old Folks Home

Dh got a call today, and his job wants him to take 2 tests in the morning. 1 for Covid-19, the other for antibodies. They're just getting all caught up with all the testing, at his job, and are now reviewing cases from back in Jan - Feb. Remember I said that we, and the doctor there, thought it might have been C-19 we had way back then, when we had that horrible, strange flu? I reminded him that it's been at least 2.5 months, since we had that flu, so we would have either recovered, needed to be hospitalized, or died, by now. The C-19 test seemed rather pointless, BUT it's a protocol to get the antibody test done. I'm not sure how long antibodies would remain in the system, at least numerous, or strong enough to be able to get a positive test result for them. Scientists are saying the antibodies appear to be detectable for quite some time, for many people.

This is why the new research is saying that a lot more people have already had C-19 than previously thought. That's why the stats posted, are a guide, and not the true numbers. The current line of thought, is they would like those that have the antibodies, to donate blood, if they can. A little infusion of those antibodies into someone at high risk, can prevent them from getting it, or at least reduce the symptoms greatly.
There has been a few studies on the antibodies on how many people have them. One in California I believe showed over 50% of those they checked has them, don't remember how many they tested. In Chelsea Massachusetts they randomly tested 200 and found a third of them had the antibodies and never even knew they had corona. The articles made it sound bad, as in more widespread than they thought but IMHO I'd say it is good cause it's making it's way through the population and having no effect?
And yeah I also think the antibody test would be more important, cause just testing if positive or negative really solves nothing. Fauci said pretty much that, can test negative today and get it at the grocery store tomorrow, so it really solves nothing. My thought is you could test negative but already had it.

Hear a lot of people saying everything will go back to normal when they get a vaccine.
What if they don't get a vaccine, or if it drifts and is ineffective even flu vaccine gets it wrong sometimes? What if this doesn't get better, what if the antibodies don't last, not actually immune they don't know yet? What if we are still dealing with this a year from now? What if China releases another pandemic on the world, this is the third one?
Lot of 'if's' there, buddy of mine's uncle used to say "A frog could leap to the moon IF he didn't keep hitting his butt on the ground" lol

Everyone is welcome here at the home!

Old is subjective. There are days where I mentally feel 25 again but most days my joints are telling me that it's 'only in my dreams' and I physically feel older than my 66 years.

So pull up a rocking chair, have a seat and enjoy the conversation with us!

Off the current topic because just ran across this thread. Just wondering what is old? People have always told me I'm an old soul but I'm starting to realize maybe I'm just old now:idunno If I am I'm OK with it. Too tired to be young.
Old is a person who is ten or more years older than yourself.
