Microchick - worried about prowlers ? - send Varn out, he'll get 'em!!

More than you realize. Those 5 are VERY protective of us and very possessive. Varn has put himself between us and one of his brothers or sisters more than once when he thought they were playing too rough with us.

I don't doubt for a minute that it would be woe to any trespassers who ventured onto our property with evil intentions.

When DH and I were talking about the incident, I said that if I'd thought about it I would have turned the dogs loose, at least Buck and Spot who are almost as protective as the Cattle Dogs are.

The trouble would be in rounding everyone up and getting them back to the house afterwards. Like herding cats in a lightening storm. Or with a strobe light on....

@microchick when planting carrots I only covered them with a minimum of soil. This is how my Mom instructed me to plant carrots and beets.

That is the way I plant them too, Sour. Makes me wonder if birds haven't been at them or voles. They both steal enough scratch grain that the chickens leave behind to put me in the poor house.

My potatoes are sprouting tho. I've had one tomato plant fail. Transplanted a tomatillo in its place. I have four squash I still need to plant. Waitin to see what croaks or fails to come up next before I plant them.

They have seeds attached to tape too, helps with small ones.
