Got test results from my doctor this morning. Tested positive for colon cancer. I know they can be false positive or negative but he wants me to have a colonoscopy. Does anyone who has had one care to discuss the prep, the procedure and the after effects? Yes, I am scared.

I've already had basal skin cancer on tip of nose. Been told I have pre-cancerous lesions under my eye but haven't found a dermatologist yet (My previous dr. told me to find one - HE IS ONE but I don't think he likes medicare patients.)
Was the test a fecal test for blood? That can be false positive so a colonoscopy would be next.

Hang in there!

Oh DD my friend, I am so sorry to hear that. Don't panic until you get the colonoscopy results back. Even at the worst, meaning a positive hit, it can be treated.

From nurses pov. The new preps that they use are reported to be milder. You are sedated for the procedure. Hang in there :hugs My dad used to tell me to not 'borrow trouble' meaning don't think the worst until you know for sure. Not knowing is the bee-otch that haunts us all.

@Cynthia12 :hugsto you also. Every time I hear them say to 'get back to normal' I hear about somebody I know having the d****d virus. I mean this sux.

I called my dentist this morning to reschedule a routine check up that I was to have next week. I told the receptionist maybe in the fall if what they are saying about the virus being gone by August. She said it would have to be fall as they are booked solid and very busy. I'm going RED ALERT RED ALERT no way I'm coming in there unless my teeth are coming out.

Next call was to the clinic that gives me my Prolia injection. I had rescheduled my appointment for tomorrow to next month with my docs blessings but I had gotten a reminder that the appointment (original) was tomorrow. While I had the receptionist on the line I asked her what precautions they were taking concerning dealing with high risk individuals and covid on the loose.

She said they were having patients call from the parking lot. They would come out, give me a mask, gown to cover my clothes, have me take off my shoes and cover my feet with booties, check my temp, ask me questions about being sick recently, then have me come in, spray me down with a disinfectant then take me back give me my shot and then turn me loose.

I mean mentally I'm going .....:thand thinking 'there's no place like home there's no place like home' while clicking my heels together.

I pray that your colonoscopy is negative DD and Cynthia, your test is negative also for Covid. Each and every resident here at the home is a cherished friend. Be well. That's an order!

@bruceha2000....now I'm blushing. Trust me, I don't blush easily! Thank you.

Wow great drawing Micro!!! :love

I’ve always loved French Bulldogs but idk that I could own one because of the healthy problems. Plus didn’t realize about the brawling!

Did you see the new cattle dog thread btw? :D

Should chime in if you haven’t already. Don’t know if you already have. Just saw it this morning and haven’t checked since.

Called the vet tonight. Got Luna an appointment for her rabies shot and wellness visit in 2 weeks and she said she was gonna leave a note for the groomers so hopefully they call me back tomorrow. :fl

I was hoping to be able to make the grooming appointment right away but it’ll be okay as long as they call back soon. Hopefully I can get in this week.

Poor Luna is so matted 😭😭

What Ron said about the blood causing false positives. Got a little hemorrhoid? Yep that will do it.

The procedure is no big thing if you are asleep, you'll never know what happened, no discomfort after. The discomfort is the prep. You can gag down the quart of stuff but get a good book for the frequent "throne sitting" that will follow. That part is uncomfortable.
I hope the results are negative.

So sorry for all of this.... yes, you need the spots under your eye taken care of... and yes, NOT an easy thing, especially now.

As to possible colon cancer, YES, there are lots of false positives. So please try to not panic until after the colonoscopy and you actually know!

(And yes... almost impossible to not panic... but try... :hugs :hugs )

Also my BIL just had colon cancer.. . As cancers go, it wasn't that terrible, and he is now all better.

@bruceha2000 gave an excellent synopsis as to what to expect.

Really, the horrid stuff is just the panic in your head. :hugs :hugs

I have had one it was pretty simple. They put you into a twilite sleep for it . The prep was ok. Not fun but liveable.

I didnt have any issues with the "Drink" it was like drinking water to be honest. But with each doc there may be variables.

you will get though it. And follow the instructions to a T.
