The Old Folks Home

Oh, :hugs DD. Worry is never our friend, is it? I've never been able to mentally put a thought into a drawer and not look at it, either -probably why I've always found Scarlett O'Hara and her "I'll think about that tomorrow" so irritating. Whatever it is has a nasty way of crawling out and creeping back into my consciousness and making me anxious at the most inconvenient times. I can't tell you it will be fine, because of course I don't know that; all I can say is my dad has had several polyps removed over the years, which have caused his doctors various levels of concern, and he's still very much here to keep my brother (who now lives with him) worried half to death about protecting him from coronavirus.:idunno

Mentioning things that make folks anxious, Wilmington and New Hanover County are now under a 9 pm to 5 am curfew for foot traffic, indefinitely. We are allowed to visit any business that is open during those hours, but we have to drive there . . . no groups of 10 or more standing around, either. After protests on Sunday and Monday evenings that started out peaceful but just couldn't stay that way, the local authorities decided enough was enough. I think it was the local D.A. who said that they will sort out the legality of these curfews later, when things have cooled off, but right now, they are worried about protecting people and property. If anyone feels a need to protest, they can do it during daylight hours. Last night, there was a group on the courthouse steps, but they promptly disbanded when police cars showed up and right after the courthouse clock struck the hour (I swear, that thing sounds like someone dropping a manhole cover, repeatedly!), the group was informed that they must leave or get arrested for breaking the curfew. So far, so good . . . back to our regularly scheduled shootings, stabbings, drunk drivers, drownings . . . gads, who called this civilization?!:barnie

DD you are on the right track. Around here the advice is that if you are having a colonoscopy, don't have it done locally, go to Columbia and the teaching hospital and have it done by a specialist there.

You will do fine. Find a 'happy place' that you can go to mentally and go there when you are at the hospital. For me, it's riding my dirt bike (which I can't do now) on the trails back in our timber. Something I love to do. Going to the dentist? While he's injecting, I close my eyes, imagine slinging a leg over the seat of my little Honda 125cc bike, rev the engine and go! I have every turn and hill memorized and I concentrate on riding the course mentally. It's a form of meditation that really works for me and helps me relax during unpleasant medical procedures.

To you, Chicka and Cynthia (still no word from her? Cripes!) many... :hugs

Hello all! Just dropping in real quick to let @drumstick diva know I had a similar situation with positive test result on the at home box test so then had to follow up with the actual colonoscopy. The prep I had to do was way less crappy (pun intended LOL) than the prep my mom had to do for hers years ago. Had to take OTC laxatives, drink a lot of Gatorade with laxatives mixed in and clear liquid diet for I want to say 24 hours before procedure. Procedure went well, one small polyp removed and no cancer. Hopefully your results will be just as spectacular.

Doctor told me today she believes I have dysautonomia.
That doesn't look like a fun thing to have :hugs

The soonest apt. I could get is 1:15pm June 18.
At least the appointment isn't too far out. Try not to worry about it too much. While I've never heard anyone say they enjoyed the prep, I've also not heard of anyone having problems because of it.

Thanks for all the nice birthday wishes!

Had a rather quiet day before going out to dinner at a restaurant that had recently re-opened (there was just us in the main dining room, but the patio was packed...not a problem with social distancing!) Bounced around the computer a bit. Ron White (the comedian) wished me a happy birthday during his afternoon live-cast on Facebook, so that was kind of thrilling.

Just got back from doing the Sellers escrow paperwork on the sale of the Santa Fe place. The final closing should be Friday morning. Kind of bittersweet as the place looked really nice as I closed the door for the last time. But the reality is I don't have the time nor energy to maintain two houses and yards. It was a fun project, though. Life goes on and so must I. Looking forward to doing some home repairs around here and traveling, but for the moment I am exhausted and looking forward to a nap.

Nice about the call out!

I hope it was a nice Birthday
