Oh,
DD. Worry is never our friend, is it? I've never been able to mentally put a thought into a drawer and not look at it, either -probably why I've always found Scarlett O'Hara and her "I'll think about that tomorrow" so irritating. Whatever it is has a nasty way of crawling out and creeping back into my consciousness and making me anxious at the most inconvenient times. I can't tell you it will be fine, because of course I don't know that; all I can say is my dad has had several polyps removed over the years, which have caused his doctors various levels of concern, and he's still very much here to keep my brother (who now lives with him) worried half to death about protecting him from coronavirus.
Mentioning things that make folks anxious, Wilmington and New Hanover County are now under a 9 pm to 5 am curfew for foot traffic, indefinitely. We are allowed to visit any business that is open during those hours, but we have to drive there . . . no groups of 10 or more standing around, either. After protests on Sunday and Monday evenings that started out peaceful but just couldn't stay that way, the local authorities decided enough was enough. I think it was the local D.A. who said that they will sort out the legality of these curfews later, when things have cooled off, but right now, they are worried about protecting people and property. If anyone feels a need to protest, they can do it during daylight hours. Last night, there was a group on the courthouse steps, but they promptly disbanded when police cars showed up and right after the courthouse clock struck the hour (I swear, that thing sounds like someone dropping a manhole cover, repeatedly!), the group was informed that they must leave or get arrested for breaking the curfew. So far, so good . . . back to our regularly scheduled shootings, stabbings, drunk drivers, drownings . . . gads, who called this civilization?!
