The Old Folks Home

Dh works tonight, so I'm waiting for him to get up, and put the bags of chicken feed out in the tack room, in the coop. They're a bit too heavy for me. He may wake up a bit late. Poor guy. He had been asleep about an hour, when I woke him up. The security cameras kept beeping their alarms. Um, I couldn't believe my eyes. We had cows. 4 of them, and a calf. I posted on Nextdoor.com, and waited to see if anyone would miss them, or come get them. After a while, I woke Dh up. One of the farther neighbors knew who they belonged to, but that person would not be home until Friday.

In the meantime, the cows went over to the hay field across the drive. Ok, they're not contained, but safe, have over 15 acres of growing hay, and a couple small ponds for water. In a bit the owner of the hay field showed up. He was wondering who was letting their cattle graze on his land. When he was told who they belonged to, he knows the person well. He made a phone call, and shortly 4 people showed up, and they all drove the cows back to their own pasture, and secured the broken fence, where they got out.

It is never a dull moment when Your DH needs to sleep!

Hey, Wisher...How old do you have to be to come into this group...@81, I am hoping that I qualify. Live in VA but in my earlier life, I milked cows in Indiana, raised kids in OH, NY, NJ & VA...now just have a husband with his garden, 2 cats and 8 young lady chickens at 15 weeks old...waiting for eggs.
do I see a couple of campines in there?
and welcome to the home :frow

Youngster today seem not have common sense ...

Why is it that something that is supposed to be as common as sense seems to be in such short supply?

The city council met a couple of days ago to do a final vote on a budget they've been discussing and tweaking for months. The protesters that apparently have nothing better to do with their lives than stand around on the courthouse steps for the last couple of weeks demanding social change announced that they were going to "occupy" the city council meeting, even though the time for public input on the budget was long passed. Fewer than 40 of them were allowed in (covid restrictions). The leader of the group was given a chance to speak, but she became so unruly, they turned off her microphone and expelled her from the meeting. The vote then went ahead as planned. The protesters were so miffed that the city council didn't cave in to their demands (one of which was to reallocate $5 million of the money set aside for the use of the police/fire depts, and use it for social programs), they tried to block the city council members from leaving the building. When the police intervened and allowed the council members to escape, the protesters then went to sit and sulk in the middle of Third Street (the main street of downtown Wilmington). The protesters were reminded that you can't block traffic, and told to move, which they didn't, so half a dozen were arrested (after which the remainder finally moved to the sidewalk and eventually dispersed).

I thought I knew what BLM stands for - since when does the B stand for "BULLY?"

I mean, seriously, guys, are you so caught up in your own rhetoric that you can't see that the change you are demanding began around here many years ago? Or are you so drunk on your own sense of empowerment that you just want to tear everything down, "fixing" what ain't even broke?

Sorry, I just needed to rant for a bit.
