The Old Folks Home

Doctor told me to take two Benedryl and a Singulair but now told me not to take Singulair as it has a black box warning. So I take 3 Benedryl and keep the epi pen close at hand.

I usually get a lot of swelling and a horrible headache. Since I'm not a person who gets headaches it's pretty miserable for a few days.

I think the last sting I got took me two weeks to get back to normal as far as swelling and pain was involved.

Wow, that's a long time! I am just so tired of bugs. The mosquitoes are bad this year.

And they are so delicious!

I was thinking about them while taking care of the chickens. When we would go out to pick, they would line up at the fence and we would lob bad berries into the run. They would scramble to claim the prize and then rush back to the fence.

We also had trouble with yellow legged wasps. I got stung twice and DH got stung once while picking. Sting #2 was why I had to start carrying an epi pen. Doctor told me that reactions to wasp stings only get worse with each sting.

Plus the wasps here in MO are just plain mean yahoos. They will sting you even if you don't come near them. They will swoop down and make sure you leave the area FAST!
Paper wasps can be very aggressive! I stuck the back of my hand into a nest that was in a prune tree once and was stung multiple times. My hand was swollen the next day

Yes, there is a nest in one of my outdoor brooders. Need to move the chickens so I can deal with it.

IF you have a safe opportunity, spray "sevin" on wasps, it kills them fast (keep away from honey bees though).Sevin powder works even better if you can "pouff" some on them. I cut the tip back more on an applicator bottle and "pouffed sevin on them. They died in a hurry.

Our storm windows don't fit tight and had wasps making nests in between the window panes. I was fighting them mightily, and luckily not stung once :fl. I don't know why. I used an empty pill bottle to flatten any that were near my hands, they didn't try to attack me :idunno. Maybe I just smell too bad to bother with. After that I haven't noticed any more wasps moving in. Probably just went some where else I haven't discovered yet.

Morning old folks! DD, what in the world are you doing up at 3:30 in the morning?

We use Seven on the wasps that invaded our blackberries. Those devils had built a ground nest in an old burrow.

Right now we are fighting ticks. They are miserable this year. I find them on me if I walk from the house to the coop.

Yesterday while feeding the chickens, I found one on the palm of my hand. It was actually trying to attach there. Got to give the creature credit for determination. But they are so bad I had to get a refill on my Minocycline RX to keep on hand.

All I could think was how awesome the Atari was when I was a kid, we must have had really good imaginations back then cause it really sucked
Well, think about the first phones. Compared to what came later, they really sucked! Have to get the operator (if the line wasn't busy) then have (probably) her connect you to the person you wanted to talk to. Lots of people could listen in if they wanted to. But at the time they were GREAT! compared to having to hitch up the horse and ride to the person you wanted to talk to.

Um, you consider 3:30 AM to be an unusual time for dd to be awake? Heck, I recall lots of times she posted at 6 or 7 AM that it was time to go to bed.
