The Old Folks Home

I took some pictures of some of my art projects. The first is a water color. The rest are called Dutch Pour.I won't try to explain it. Just do a search on youtube (where I found the videos).

The first is a water color. The first abstract one is done using silicone drops to form the 'cells'. The last two abstracts are done using just paint. The videos on youtube give a better description of the technique than I can.

I'm working towards making a large Dutch pour.

Sorry they are a bit dark. My batteries on my camera decided to die.

I'm planning on hanging them in my little art alcove so I can track my progress with the Dutch Pour technique. I eventually want to do a large Dutch Pour to hang in the house. I bought a yard of artist canvas. All I have to do is decide on size and build a frame to stretch it on. Amazon has also been shipping me a LOT of acrylic paint, LOL To do the small canvases it takes something like an ounce of each color that you use, plus the thick base coat which is about a half a cup of paint or more. Only have to use a couple of drops of silicone in each paint excluding the base coat. The base coat is poured onto the canvas and spread around until you have about a quarter of an inch of paint spread over the surface. Then you apply the colors either in either layered pools or lines.

When I get proficient with the technique I want to make one similar to this one:

Doing the Dutch Pours is frankly addicting but I still think my love is sketching and watercolors. I plan to frame and hang the Koi painting. I haven't used watercolors in decades so I was pleased with the way it came out. I did it with the assistance of a 'tutorial' on Youtube so I could review techniques.

It's going to be 110 here today!

77 is all the degrees anyone needs, I say. 67 is cold, 87 is hot, and 110 is the surface of the sun.

I have to go get groceries. The store is 40 minutes away, each way. I bring ice chests to make sure our meat and dairy make it home okay. Plus there's all the ridiculousness and minutiae involved in decontaminating everything before it comes into the house - including me; I'm at high risk for the virus so I have to be extra cautious. It wipes me out for the rest of the day!
I use an ice chest for perishables in the summer too! It can get too hot just in town

Mugwumps?
I play a MUD (multi user Dungeon), one of the oldest still running. Some MUDs have upgraded stuff (but stayed with all text), and have more active players.... I have tried them, but don't like them. They mostly dumbed stuff down.

The one I play you have to read, remember oodles of stuff, think for yourself, and type. Lots of puzzles and quests and such to unravel. The player base is small, so often the entire game is empty, but people still log on.

I set up scheduled times to play with other like minded diehards, or I play alone.

It is set up so that single player play is still enormously engrossing.

Even after playing this one game for uh  over 25 years... there are STILL bunches of things that I haven't discovered or figured out. It is a HUGE virtual world.
