The Old Folks Home

This is what my new build looks like. The lighting changes colors. This just happens to be the color everything was, when I took the pic.

Even the keyboard, and mouse change colors to match into the scheme. It's a Ducky keyboard, and one of the best mechanical keyboards made.

One of the many features of the keyboard, is I can customize it, and save the profile, so I can re-use it. This is a profile I use with one of my games. Only the keys I use for the game, are lit. This makes them easier to find.

This feature is not only good for games, but for a lot of programs. In addition to lighting up specific keys, the keys are programmable. For example, if you use photo editing software, and use Copy/Cut/Paste routinely, instead of having to take 3 steps to do it, you can program a key to do all 3 steps.

That is nice.

This last laptop I bought I actually got most of what I wanted. (Couldn't talk myself into spending the money for everything that I wanted)

I did opt for the mechanical keyboard with lit keys. Great feature, since I am usually playing in a dark room, and though I type fast, I still on occasion need to look at the keys while I type.

Supposedly mine will change colors and such... haven't bothered to see what all I can do to them...

My only regret is that I went with the least expensive speaker option, thinking eh, I only use headphones, and only for movies. Well.... I do wish the sound was a wee bit better.

Everything else though....so shiny shiny!:love

@getaclue, that is so cool! I wish we could do a build like that but the way we go through keyboards and mice it would forever be getting replaced thanks to our cats. They knock them off the computer table at lease once a day.

@CapricornFarm, you don't know how many times I tried to headhunt nurses from hospitals. I always heard the same thing 'I could never do that work, it's too hard! Once while working as a temp at a local hospital one of the nurses apologized because they had to assign me to 5 patients instead of 4. I just snorted a laugh and told them I was used to taking care of anywhere from 25 to 35 patients a shift. 5 was a treat. I wish I had a picture of the looks on their faces when I told them that number.

Yeah, I worked in a nursing home as a CNA. It was crazy how many we were assigned to care for.

Al, I feel ya, regarding getting what you want vs cost. You read specs, then look at the price, and gasp from sticker shock. It's a challenge getting one with the "must have" list, and still keep it in line with a budget.
Yep, so true.

My kids tease me because I bought this super fast quality laptop .... and then use it to play an antique text based game... they like to tease, asking me if the computer is fast enough to handle the rare ancii art that pops up in the text game. :lau And no, no slow down! Fast as fast can be! :old

But then, it also runs full photoshop without a single pause or hiccup!

I just noticed my RAM. It too has the lighting feature, and Dh enabled it.
The purpose/value of this escapes me. I would guess not much of that colored light gets out once the covers are on and they will be even less visible once the case is on the floor.

I can see the value of that feature.

Mugwumps?

@CapricornFarm, I depended so much on my CNAs to be my eyes and ears. The team we had working on our wing was tops. When they announced that they were going to start rotating the aides to other wings without looking up from my work I said, 'I'll quit' the nurse I worked with said 'Me too'. They never did it.

You can't take care of over 30 patients without having a good team of aides working for you.

The Chicken gods have senses of humor after all. I thought I had two pure bred Fayoumis, one half Fayoumi, Two SDW roosters, 1 pure bred SDW pullet and one pure bred BBR pullet. This week their colors have really come in. Looks like all my fayoumis are crosses and when one of the SDW 'cockerels' ran past me I noticed some brown feathers on it's back. I caught 'him' went to pet him and 'he' assumed a breeding position, squatting, wings spread.

Now this means one of two things. Either the Fayoumi rooster, Tut, managed to breed the SDW pullets or the SDW roosters managed to breed one of the Fayoumi hens....I don't think I want to know which. Either one boggles the imagination.

I need to get a close look at the other SDW cockerel. It's probably a she and a cross bred also.

It's like crossing a chihuahua with a Great Dane. :th

I took some pictures of some of my art projects. The first is a water color. The rest are called Dutch Pour.I won't try to explain it. Just do a search on youtube (where I found the videos).

The first is a water color. The first abstract one is done using silicone drops to form the 'cells'. The last two abstracts are done using just paint. The videos on youtube give a better description of the technique than I can.

I'm working towards making a large Dutch pour.
