The Old Folks Home

I went to the library today. Got a stack of books. Did you know bats can live 30 years? And only have one or 2 babies at a time. Possums normally have 13 nipples, but there have been some with as many as 17! Got a book on mammals of VA.

DH and I were out riding the back roads on our old Virago motorcycle and passed a mother possum with her babies moseying their way down the road. Mom was trying to lead her brood and they were playing, wrestling and tumbling, Only time I ever thought that a possum was cute.

Missouri has some really HUGE bats. The only ones I've seen are the little brown guys. Our attic has a stairway access and a trap door access. One night the trap door got giggled out of it's track and down came this little brown bat swooping all over the shop trying to figure out how to get back to the attic. We finally got the trap door open and up he flew never to be seen again.

It rained late this afternoon. Not like yesterday's torrential downpour, but a nice gentle rain, lasting about an hour. It cooled things off nicely. Afterward, I was able to get out, and do a few things. When it's up in the 90's, I just can't do as much. It drains me.
