The Old Folks Home

Some of my Drs are still just doing phone calls. (Pa) Every other chair had a sticker on it so you social distance. They aren't giving many appointments, keeping the waiting room empty and instead tell you to go to the emergency room. At the lab today they have the option to wait in your car till they call you.
-I use coffee filters in my masks.

penny, they can catch it with the masks. Most of the masks now carry a warning that they do not protect against getting, or spreading Covid. The concern about masks, is the reduced air flow, and higher carbon dioxide levels, when using them. This can actually be dangerous for children, and people with respiratory issues. The masks that actually work best, are rarely the ones people are using. If you want the protection you are seeing in some of the illustrations, you need to get Medical Grade N95 masks that are properly sealed on the face. Even those don't offer 100% protection, but they do offer a much higher degree of protection. With the higher degree of protection, the length of time they should be worn, and the risks from reduced oxygen, and higher carbon dioxide levels, is higher too.
We were in the emergency room and got a mask that had sticky stuff along the top edge. I like those, your eye glasses don't stream shut because the mask is sealed.

That is what my doctor is doing. I take prescription pain killers so I have to check in every three months with him. We are doing it through telephone appointments until things are safer.

I also take a biologic for osteoarthritis/porosis called Prolia. I go to an infusion center every six months for that. They are super careful since most of their people that they see are immunocompromised due to conditions like RA-psoriasis, etc.

If I have to have an injection or blood work, I go to the local clinic which is ran by my doctor's office. I phone them from the car, they come out, make sure I'm masked, open doors for me going in and out.

I used to be a scrub nurse. They taught us that once we are gowned and gloved we are considered 'sterile' To remind ourselves not to touch anything other than instruments, we were taught to clasp our hands together in front of us. Our fronts were always considered 'clean/sterile', our backs, contaminated. When I go anywhere like the local clinic, I let them do all the door handling, etc. I keep my hands clasped in front of me. That way I don't touch anything. It's even easier for me to remember that if I wear rubber gloves when I'm out.

trying to. 110 is a bit tough. Cold soup for dinner Salads to keep up the Electrolytes and Hotsauce in the warm foods.

Been buying KFC Lemonaid in the half gallon jugs. I drink it mixed with filtered water at about 50 50. My stommach seems to like it and I can keep a steady flow going. Full on Lemonaid Makes my esophagus cry. and I have to power down tums.

Lemonade is very to prevent kidney stones and also helps you pass them if you already have them. Dissolves that 'guck' and cleans out your kidneys

Prolia is a new name for me. My husband used to take remicade too it didn't work and is on humira now. Those side effects are scary.

No but the Pantry is being built and the Kitchen cabinets have done their dry run. The popout for the refrigerator should be started as well. By making a box for it It can be made almost flush with the wall. And the location is at a perfect triangle for the work flow.

My back is another story. Seems that I may have Scoleosis. and Yes at age 65 its not unnusual. I go for ex rays this week. and will schedual an MRI when I go in.

I think all my lost fat was supporting it and now that that is going away my problem is showing its ugly head.

Sorry to hear about your health problem, Deb. Glad you are making progress with your new place. I am battling TMJ pain. No fun at all

When I had Lyme Disease, I lived on lemon water. It was one of the things they recommended to help with the Herxheimer effect where your body is overloaded with dead bacteria and it makes you feel like you are dying. The lemon water helps flush out the toxins. It and long soaks in Epsom salt baths helped me get through that horrible stuff.

I did Methotrexate for serum negative RA. Helped knock it into remission but the side effects caught up with me and I had to stop it. Both Remicade and Humira are some heavy duty biologics. Thank God they decided that pulsing steroids works better for me than the biologics. If I only pulse them every 3-4 months if I'm having a flare, they say I won't be damaging my already carpy joints more than they are already messed up.

Cap, what does that feel like precisely? I wake up in the morning feeling like my jaw on one side has 'sand' in it. Sore spots but no real pain. The flippin Prolia can cause jaw problems and I'd much rather have TMJ than a necrotic jaw.

The joint of my jaw hurts. All the time. Plus I think I have a couple of infected teeth. It's not good.

Do your infected teeth come from the disease? Cause my husband gets so many cavities and broken teeth. Not sure if it's from the disease or medicine. He was on steroids for a long time. The last tooth that needed to be pulled had inflammation in the pulp and therefore Novocaine wouldn't numb it.Put up a good fight to get the insurance to pay to put him to sleep. Did anyone ever take humira and have to stop taking it because of aggression, mental changes or it affected the lungs?
