The Old Folks Home

I'm freaking out a little now.
My daughter checked her flights at midnight. She was supposed to leave at 10AM today. Flight was cancelled and she wasn't alerted. They rerouted her to DC for her flight to Tokyo. The new flight was at 8 AM and she would have missed it if she hadn't checked. Then the plane was late and is supposed to arrive in Dulles in 10 minutes. That will only give her 10 minutes to get to the Tokyo flight.
Fingers crossed here.

I have mine crossed and hope all goes as it is suppose to.

She missed it - by 2 minutes

I think that's the last flight today. At least on United.

Probably stuck in Washington D.C. for the night.

Update. ~~Daughter is really not as upset as I expected. They're getting her out of DC this afternoon and into San Francisco this evening but not leaving for Tokyo/BKK till almost noon tomorrow. So she'll be arriving on the same flight # as originally but a day later. She'll be getting in near midnight on the Chinese New Year.
Now she's trying to reach her BKK hotel so they don't cancel her and she won't be a girl without a room at midnight in Bangkok. She's pretty savvy though. I'm not really worried. It doesn't help to worry about some unknown future event.

Thank you all for the well wishes.
Life is an adventure - just by standing still.

My wife was balling her eyes out when we dropped her off at the airport this morning.

Quote: Ron, you are sweet!!

Yup, I love this thread--

thanks for the great replies about the turkeys. I do believe I may need to accidentally stumble across a pair this spring.....

I eat the eggs I don't sell or hatch. Harder to break than a chicken egg, but tastes the same. I keep my hens cooped-- no hunting down eggs here !!

Quote: After you were pounced on , seemed like the following replies were a little more thoughtful. It has happened to me to on other threads-- just ask Ron, lol, and I took a beating on the heritage thread too, by Bob, and I learned to be a noobie, and don't try to explain myself, just listen, and eventually it worked itself out. I had difficulty with the line breeding using a trio model, but I finally got the peice I was looking for in just the last few weeks. The birds are so line bred that they will get all mixed up are not compatable with other lines. Not the same with the BUckeyes. THat breed can handle rotational breeding apparently.

Battening down the hatches and waiting for the big ice/snow storm heading our way!! Got a nice naked cockerel to cook up for some chicken and dumplings. DH is having crazy days trying to things all prepared. 2 generators, one for us and one for his folks. His dad is on 02...and of course power outages are to be expected if this thing hits like they say it will. He is also getting our propane tanks all filled. We have to heat with propane heaters and 2 window unit heat pumps. Neither are very reliable when the temps drop too much. Dang winter time drama

Keep safe!!

Quote: My fear is that this year will be the begining of typical. THe number of over 100 days has been increasing in my neck of the woods; and the temps at 10-15 in the morning has been increasing too. Might need to move the horses in the house for warmth!! I remeber an old house in Bangor Maine that had the barn under the house-- now I get it!! lol

Darn!! She is resilient and will manage fine.

Air travel has really been the pits in recent years.
I quit lying a few years ago when my broken arm was swabbed for bomb making chemicals, and my shoes went into the scanner and no one had the time to help me get my shoes back on ( needed tying) with one hand. I ran to next flight with shoes in my hand. NEVER AGAIN. Security is overkill here.

BIL flies frequently and has a high security clearance--and just walks on. Hmmmmmm . . .

Getting ready to head to airport. DH is taking a later flight (tomorrow) so we are going to stay in a hotel tonight near the airport instead of trying to drive in this weather tomorrow and hope to make it on time. Would rather drive the almost 3 hours now, which will probably turn out to be closer to 6, and just get it over with. Not looking forward to staying at a hotel but sometimes you just have to suck it up.
