The Old Folks Home

Morning folks, supposed to be going to grocery store IF dispatcher didn't forget to put my name down - frequent occurrence. His Xmas gift will hang in the balance. Thirteen years of riding the same bus with same dispatcher :rant

Used to be a bus driver and had many short term jobs given to him due to his "friendship" with a senator.

"Red sky at morning, sailors take warning...."

Out with the dogs pre-dawn and the New Mexico sky is positively breathtaking!

(Yes, we do have a winter storm warning for later today...)

good afternoon OF.
I've been busy disassembling and cleaning one of the coops, and moving it to the most sheltered / covered area I've got, in preparation for AI lockdown on Monday; two to go. Quite funny to watch the hens assembling at dusk where it used to be :gig Before it got dark I managed to tempt 4 individuals round to the new location and a nice clean coop :p

hello @azurbanclucker - do please join us.
typewriters
that brings back memories! There is a fantastic collection of them in the Deutsche Museum in Berlin, if memory serves. An amazing range of different solutions were tried before it settled down to QWERTY on a square-ish box.

A discussion about typewriters made me think perhaps I should join over here. And rotary dial phones with the loooooooooong cord so you could have a "private" conversation in the next room.
Welcome!

They had that kind of phone in Queens Gambit. That time period did not have answering machines either. It was a completely different world!

Given what you've posted in the past I'm surprised you give even 1/2 seconds of thought to giving him anything but a lump of coal.

Yep and yep! It USED to be you knew when kids were talking to friends. Now the friends just show up at the house, invited via text by the kid but not necessarily with parental knowledge.

I still have a tween and 2 teens at home, and that does not fly for us. We've always set the expectation that having friends over is great, but you have to clear it first.

Ha! Or party lines... didn't matter where you stood, the entire neighborhood could listen in on the call.
