The Old Folks Home

When I lived in Las Vegas, the water there is SO awful that it was a given you'd replace your hot water heater within 7 years even with regular draining.
Now in NM on well water and we're lucky not to be on a manganese vein. We have a water softener, but it rarely gets refilled.
My Mom's place in the Mountains has a lot of Iron in the well water.

She should get a filter for it.

Except in the summer when she goes to the mountains to escape the heat? I was amazed when I found out how hot it gets in Redding in the summer. I figured it was so far north it would be cooler.
It is due to the mountain ranges coming in.

The air also heats up as it comes down mt. Shasta. There is also an air layer that will trap the heat in Late July to August.

It is a conversion layer.

Mom gets up there when She can now. She has not been too mobile since her back problems a couple of years ago

Inversion?
I lived for 23 years under the LA basin inversion. Great for keeping smog in and fresh air out.
Yes! Inversion layer. It was an inversion layer that caused the hottest days back in the 1970s. The temperature goes up over several days until the inversion layer is broken. Then the temps start going back up each day.

121.9F for two days in a row...It was brutal!
