The Old Folks Home

Dh was able to talk to his son this afternoon. He has been transferred to a rehab facility. At this point, I'm not sure that depression is the entirety of his problem. There seems to be an alcohol, and possible drug problem as well. I had mentioned to a friend that I knew he had been a pretty heavy drinker, while single. I wondered if that might have something to do with her wanting to leave him. Of course, there has been no mention of what type of pills he took, so he may simply be in there because of the type pills he ingested. He doesn't know how long he'll be in there. They will re-assess him on Saturday.

When he's released, he'll go live with his ex-step mother, and her wife. They have a very nice double wide on their place, that is vacant. He's moving back in there. That's where he was living before he got married.

We can't just make up the back payments, and get his car out of hock. They want the entire remainder of the balance. He's already paid on it for 2 years, but still owes 2 years worth of payments, totaling $11,000.00. His mother is willing to pay off the balance for him, so he has transportation to go back to work.

At least Dh knows more now, and is not so upset, imagining the worst.

I had called to schedule the ultrasound my doctor ordered. I called one place local to me, that I haven't used before, and asked if they take my insurance. Their insurance person was out until the next day. I'm NOT paying for this out of pocket.

I called where I normally have it done. It took awhile to get through, but finally, I did. All I had to do was FAX a copy of the order, and they would call me back to schedule it. She gave me their new FAX number. I tried multiple times, but didn't get the "handshake". The last time I tried, someone answered the phone. They explained that I was given the number a day too early, and I needed to FAX it this morning. I did. About an hour later, I got a call. Normally, ultrasounds go through the imaging dept., BUT I need a venous doppler, which is done through the hematology dept. I was given the number to call there. It was explained that they have 1 tech that works there, so leave a message. The tech follows up on calls between patients.

Finally, the tech called. She explained she would not be working tomorrow, and scheduled me for Monday, however, informed me that a venous doppler is for a DVT (blood clot). She explained that's very serious, and doctors usually want the results as soon as possible. Since I had already been delayed by the run-around, she recommended another place I might want to call, to see if they can get me in tomorrow.
I called, but by then it was almost closing time, and the person that schedules, was gone for the day. I need to call them at 7:30 in the morning.

Dd #1 goes to her nursing classes from Tues. to Thurs., and I watch her kids while she's gone, so I'm trying to get all this done, while watching the 3 grands, and while all the other commotion is going on.

BTW, it seems that any medical facility I call, has to do a 5 minute spiel about covid, before they even get to the menu, which means it take even longer to get through, and get the call routed to where it needs to go.

Never a dull moment around here.
