The Old Folks Home

Good day OF's. Beautiful nice warm weather. We get spring back. Well for 3 days anyway.
This will be the first year we're not going to Hawaii because of Covid-19.

Normally we don't go cause we can't afford it.
Well you can make an extra house payment, or some payment, and the interest you save will help you and DW have a better vacation after the kids move out. :lau

Happy Sunday everyone.

Well, the summer tradition has begun. We are mowing the lawn for the first time. Geesh, why is it so freaking hard that first time? The grass is thick and healthy? We are a year older? Our hatred of lawn care is getting stronger with time?

I'm on day three and still have another day's work ahead of me.

My first broody is in the buster cage acting miserable. Poor baby. Screech is such a good broodie and excellent mother. I apologized to her and told her maybe next year.

I must resist I must resist I must resist. I bought feed yesterday and it had gone up 2 dollars a bag. Told the birds they needed to eat less or quit wasting.

Well, the front deck has been cleared of debris. That's as far as I've gotten. Need to take the wheel barrow around and pick up all the fallen branches and limbs from the oaks and pecan trees, then I can get back to my normal routine, whatever that is.
I've never been to Hawaii, never could afford it.. Never even went to Disney in all the years I lived in Central and South Florida.

Yup, that first time around is a PITA. It takes me the whole week, doing an hour of mowing at a time to get this place done. I've been doing it in sections. The back yard with the most grass and fewest weeds gets done with the YardMax and bagger for the kids in pens. The rest I knock down with the Remington Super Duper weed eater on wheels. Makes nice enough hay to line the hen houses with.

RESIST YOU MUST! :lau

If car rental prices are prohibitive to do a jaunt within the same state, for a day, I can't even imagine what the costs would be to rent one to come from NY to FL, for several days.
If you can manage to get a rental, prices range from $600/day upwards. Princess is flying to Pittsburg in June and was going to get a rental there. On second thought her sister can pick her up at the airport. Apparently a lot of rental cars got sold off early in the pandemic, and now that things are loosening up there's a shortage of available vehicles
