@penny1960 I surely don't need any more chickens. A few of my guys need a few more ladies so they don't wear out the ones they have.. But I bought chicks for that purpose. What I'm hatching I'll put up for sale once they reach 5 - 6 weeks.. I can show parents when people come to buy them, or do some kind of collage showing parentage if I can get some swaps going, or take them to the Opp Auction they have once a month.

600$ a day for a car rental. Good grief. The only time I've ever rented a car was when mine was in the shop for an extended period of time. Never more than a 150$ or so for two or three days when I've had to pay out of pocket.

For those prices, anyone wanting to rent for a couple weeks should just consider buying a car. Sheesh!

Kinda sorta but not really.. I'm letting you enjoy a hatch through me. Got two Beilefelders hatched too now.. More pipped and I'm waiting patiently for my little bundles of love to arrive.

And I appreciate that. I have to admit that I'm missing the waiting game whether it be via broody or via Brinsea. But I have so much going on that as painful as it is (withdrawal and all)it was the right decision.

I went out tonight to feed and lock up and Screech greeted me with a blood curdling well, screech so I know she has a few more days to go. I have two more that are sitting on eggs but don't push the matter when I confiscate them so hopefully they will decide not to cross over.

I went into town yesterday and bought grain. Can't get bedding pine chips at the local MFA. I was told that the cattle people are buying them up as soon as they get any in. I think I need to go red head on me some cattle people.

At those rates, I'll be walking the 10 miles to town if something happens to the Jeep!

@CapricornFarm. Hate to hear that you are having problems with your knee. Hope you get to the bottom of what is happening with it.

My feet are giving me the fits. I have an appointment Tuesday morning with my Rheumy's PA and have been holding off taking any of my steroids that they gave me so I don't mask the symptoms. It's been going on for weeks. Regular doc told me I was using my head but I wanted to tell him he doesn't have to put up with the pain until then.

Here's snowflake on duty! She's been squished flat as a melted marshmallow for a week now on the nest, in spite of the other two hens adding eggs daily.

And 4 Calico Princess... I really think one is not a Calico Princess at all. Hoovers also sells Saphire Gems that have a top notch and are BLUE... I think the second from the left is a mixed up birdy.

I agree with you on that one chick. I love that blue lacing on the saddle feathers. Gorgeous.

I have two hens that go broody pretty predictably every year. Screech who got her name due to the blood curdling velociraptor yell she gives out if you even look at her when she is setting eggs and T-Rex who has drawn blood on me more than once when she is on eggs and I have the bad judgement to try to candle them. She is one of those hens where you divert her attention with one hand while you sneak out an egg with the other from behind. Getting them back under her isn't a problem. Just put it on the straw out of beak reach and she immediately pushes it back under her. They are both 'Amish barnyard' but I think they have some Dominique in them....along with God knows what else.

Since this is my first real broody, I wonder if they don't go into some type of trance while sitting on the nest. I had a few false starts with two other hens this year. Snowflake really surprised me when she decided to go broody. No warning at all, just ploof and she was on the nest. How can I tell if she's even getting off the nest to eat? I see when the other two are on the nest to lay more eggs, she's ploofed out on the floor of the pen instead of gorging herself while she has the chance.

Good day OF's. Beautiful nice warm weather. We get spring back. Well for 3 days anyway.

Well you can make an extra house payment, or some payment, and the interest you save will help you and DW have a better vacation after the kids move out.

Never even went to Disney in all the years I lived in Central and South Florida.

We've been five times and planning on another. Sounds expensive but as DW points out, anything close to us, we live west side Catskill mountains, up north NY Adirondack mountains has a awesome water park in Old Forge Enchanted Forest been there many times , DW points out but just expensive as Disney for the day. Our county fair same town I work one prob the biggest rural fair in NY, DW will point out , ... by time we're done for the day, just as expensive as Disney...
Of course not counting travel or hotel stay.
